The season goes from bad to worse, now an LFC icon has gone. Always in the directors box for every game, usually in a cream overcoat for the winter games.
Bet he never guessed that his rendition of an old show tune would become probably the most recognisable sports song in the world. RIP
Awful news. A legend of the City and our club and a top feller. I was lucky enough to meet him on a couple of occasions at a cafe-bar on Matthews Street where a couple of my mate's worked. Him and his wife were lovely. RIP. YNWA
hull city fan in peace. thanks for looking after andy robertson. i've a stash of hundreds of albums and singles. i'm 60 so i missed the merseybeat era but after all these years it's my favourite musical era. i've bought all the merseybeat music i could find. all the bands and artists, not just the mega famous ones, but the ones only you know about. in my university days, away from home, i had cassettes with best of albums by gerry & the pacemakers and freddie & the dreamers (from elsewhere, of course). i know it all backwards. in the pantheon of merseybeat stars, gerry was right up there, top six(?). every youtube video i play is getting to me. rip, gerry. thanks for the music. legend.
Gerry lives down the road from me and my missus used to bump in to him in the pet shop and he once walked her back to her car ( she uses sticks) to make sure she got there ok.He was a true legend of Liverpool and a nice person. R.I.P Gerry...YNWA
So much for 2021 being better than 2020. Already off to a bad start. Rip Gerry. Thank you for the music and your contribution to Liverpool football (and other clubs worldwide).
RIP Gerry I have never been able to listen to YNWA without a tear in my eye. It's iconic, Gerry is iconic and will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
It was the Armadillo Tea Rooms met him in on both occasions. Don't think its there now. It was opposite the Grapes.
