That is a factor. I was against the idea of 5 subs (I still am against it for the future), but I can see the argument for its short-term use. I think it's a complex issue - not every player needs to be treated the same, and psychology is as big a factor as physiology. If a player is enjoying themselves they want to go on, witness how pissed off Mané was to be hooked from the Palace game. Conversely, frustration and low confidence can be more enervating than a high work-rate.
do we know that? we know he can play 20. we could make the same argument about ox. he ought to be more ready but nobody is asking for him to start.
It's our first real poor patch (and we're still top) in 3 flipping years! AND WE'RE STILL TOP The level had to drop, for 3 years the level has been phenomenal, and even then it took injuries upheaval to bring it about. We have time and the room for improvement, to retain the title
We had to drop off significantly for City and United et al to be just keeping up this season. We're missing Mane's regular goals this season, that's gonna change, he's too much of a machine
We need a big slice of luck from somewhere or someone, it's been eluding us for a while. One slice will attract more and so on ...... and we'll start winning more of the 50/50's etc. and the ball will start to bounce more in our favour. Never underestimate luck.
I still say Man City missed the biggest opportunity when naming the Colin Bell Stand... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55551720
It all depends on how long the slump lasts. If we cut out of it now, absolutely, we would be favourites for the title. If the slump lasts another month we may have too steep a hill to climb. We've got away with substandard results and still stayed near the top all season because everyone who is anyone had a bad start. There are signs a few teams are improving now and getting into gear. We can still win the title, but it means getting a lot better in a short period of time. No one is calling for Klopp's head. The relentless push and thin squad getting a lot of experience together at same time, won us silver... We're seeing the ugly side of that success now exhaustion, injuries revealing holes, second teamers trying to get experience with first XI. Personally, I don't think we will win the title this year... But we'll be back with more gusto again next season.
