One of the most influential people of the last 30 years has sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer. Always struck me as such a great person and so passionate about Apple and bringing new state of the art technology to a mass market. A true role model and someone all young people should look up to as a testament to hard work and following your dreams and not letting anything not even illness get in your way. R.I.P to an icon.

"The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented." —President Obama on the passing of Steve Jobs

I know he was ill, but I didn't realise he quite that ill.

A sad loss, but he's certainly left his mark on the world.

    RIP

I had the good fortune to meet Steve Jobs through work. A compelling, visionary leader and very ruthless in his approach to business. He will be missed.

It's easy to understand why product like the iPhone have succeeded. It may not be the best at specific tasks (there are phones that get better reception, have faster graphics, better cameras, better worldwide connectivity...) but the whole package that Apple put together around the product makes it compelling. What's more, Apple's innovation has pushed competitors to create better solutions so the whole market benefits.

Apple are on a course to take over the world, apparently they're richer than almost every country on the planet. Bastards.

But RIP Job, being written on my iPhone.

it was probably the horrible auto-correct feature that turned "Jobs" into "Job" for you.

Never really enjoyed anything apple have put out but saw how it changed how people percived mobile phones as more than just a phone which was truly visionary. Typed on a iphone lookalike samsung galaxy s2. I remember saying why would i want my phone to do more than be able to call someone.

To be fair that's not an achievement. Most people on here are probably richer than most of the countries in the world, since everywhere seems to be billions of pounds in debt.

They have been stockpiling cash though, their bank account a few months ago had $93Billion in it which meant they had more cash to spend than the US government, and Apple had that in the bank without being $15Trillion in debt.

With Apple it's weird though, it's almost like the less advanced their technology has been compared to competitors the better it's done.
