I was in the North stand.I checked with the linesman expecting a flag to be raised. Not cos I thought he was offside but cos it was so late against a top team. Went mental once it was given. Ji in that corner is one of the best celebrations I have seen over there.
another quite 'iconic' moment in the game was that final pass from henrik afore he nearly collapsed...the man was hardly 100% fit but put himself forward to play while others bottled it
Excellent servant to the club, got a fair amount of unfair criticism imo. Anyone know where I might be able to find some highlights from that match, apart from the last minute?
Great few months to be a Sunderland fan that, fantastic form in the league and then a very exciting cup run. That last minute Ji winner was probably the best moment during that spell though, just sheer ecstasy. Unbelievable composure from him given the opposition and the stage of the game. That Sunderland team were easy to get behind as they worked their bollocks off which is all we ask for. I remember this game especially most of them were out on their feet and barely had the energy to jog forward when Ji started carrying the ball down the wing with only Sess in support.
iirc, that was the start of a run of four 1-0 wins at home against city, but on the fifth one, they evened up the score by beating us 4-0 !!
I agree with this, brings tears to my eyes listening to it. Absolutely fantastic. On a side note I'm sure there was also commentary by an African country in swahili somewhere out there which is a good listen just for the excitement
