Sadly the Times also reporting that those scheduled for their second Pfizer jab next week will have them postponed for up to 12 weeks. Not sure where the science is behind all this, these gaps were certainly not in the trials, and as I mentioned above I think the first cohort, by definition the most vulnerable, should complete the course as planned.

Lots of talk about 2 million doses given a week. I assume that Handcock has factored in not only the manufacturing side of this but the fact that every single batch of these as yet unlicensed and for emergency use only medicines has to be quality checked by someone or other. One reason why AZ, which said it would deliver 4 million doses this year, and has supposedly been manufacturing since the summer, has actually only put 500,000 in the supply chain.

The fix is certainly in for AZ though. Don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted we have this vaccine and am eager to have it myself, but last night on the BBC there were a series of rather misleading comments, all favouring the AZ vaccine over the Pfizer one. ‘You can’t compare the results of the trials of the two different products’ - err, yes you can, both directly and indirectly, it’s how regulators and assessors make decisions about which drugs are better than others, and which ones to pay for. The Pfizer vaccine is difficult to distribute - well, yes but not that difficult - the company supplies the dry ice packaging for transport and it actually needs to be at fridge/ordinary freezer temperature for the last couple of days to defrost. The Pfizer vaccine is harder to make and in shorter supply - well, a bit and supply is tighter because more places have approved its use, but the UK has had 4 million doses delivered this month compared to 500k available for AZ. The AZ vaccine is much cheaper than the Pfizer one - 100% correct and I suspect what this is all, about. I got the strong impression (though maybe I’ve been infected with the general creeping paranoia) that this was about persuading people not to ask for the Pfizer version.

I named you and Ellers because you've both been very vocal on here complaining about too many people being out and about.

It's not true to say that I don't agree with any of the restrictions, I just don't see that people out walking in the fresh air are a threat to anybody else.

Has Test, Track and Trace gone? Really? Why weren't we told?

£22 billion 'spaffed up the wall'.

At the outset you proudly proclaimed: "well, I'm still going down the pub for a pint"!
    You've questioned the restrictions throughout.
    Anyway, whatever.

    Please read this:
I don't think a lot of people walking around outside will lead to more infections.
    Have you got that?

What I've repeatedly said is, the more people travel to places they could avoid, the more likely it is that social distancing will become impossible.
This also goes for those out walking.
If you all end up congregating outside or in the local shop, as happens around our way, the risk of infection is increased in my opinion.
    Now please also read this:
I have never liked Boris Johnson.
I've regularly criticised this government which is full of inexperience and ineptitude, with one or two exceptions.
They should be held accountable for the mistakes they have made, along with the many other governments across the world who have made similar mistakes.
I have supported them over Brexit.

Everyone will have the chance to get rid of them at the next election.

We go into level 5 lockdown from 6pm tonight for at least a month.... despite what the government said a week ago now all non essential shops are to close as are gyms, leisure centres, golf courses, tennis clubs......no travel beyond 5kms from home except for essential travel, work, education etc, WFH where possible, travel bans on people from UK and South Africa until 6th January....
Over 1700 new cases yesterday, national rate at 272 per 100k, Donegal has a rate of 520 per 100k which is not surprising given the levels of infection in northern Ireland....
On the discussion about people being out doors, the problem I have is those selfish bolloxs's who don't make any attempt to social distance, those walking 3 abreast who must keep talking as you pass them and make no effort to keep distance even though we're move into the middle of the road for space.....people are just oblivious to what's happening but hey as long as they can keep on talking to each other that's the important thing....
    Keep safe all...

eer what part of a post have I ever said anything about 'outside and spread'? I actually said (if you take your head out of the sand) that people have been breaking the lockdown rules, which they have. And I was amazed how many groups of people were out standing no more than a few feet apart. walking in fresh air is good for you but when groups of people stop and chat for long periods of time and don't obey rules then it's a different story.
And just to explain why you are talking rubbish.... I spoke to a nurse last night who has spent the entire time on the front line seeing many many people die. She is not Dave from Facebook or social media, she worked on the covid wards and talked to many people and families. listening to her talk about 30 yr olds dying and families not being able to be with them when they die was hard to listen to. It has taken its toll on her. Covid exists and many people are catching it in many different places. You can catch Covid indoors and out, (more chance indoors though). Go ahead mock my post, blame Cummings, the government but at the end of the day I would rather listen to someone who is actually there doing it? And I agree with her in that selfish people have made this worse by not obeying the guidelines.
Next time you refer to me in a post at least have the decency of quoting me correctly.

No one is saying they haven’t. The point is you’re sat there disingenuously wondering why you’ve put on weight from eating a massive cake and blaming the cherry on top of the icing.

I just don't like people misquoting me for a one-upmanship. As soon as I mentioned it he started mocking. but once again it's backfired on him.

These are the sort things that neither of you said, apparently.

(the Ellers one doesn't really make sense, not unusually)

Has Test, Track and Trace actually been scrapped?

I heard about this on the Euronews yesterday. First there were small digs at the UK for getting the first vaccine out quickly. Many in the EU wanted it at the same time. Now there have been distribution problems to the different countries... well not all.

No. When you show such indignation at a relatively minor factor while ignoring the obvious core problem.

From what I witness up here in west Yorkshire, people are just going about like it's just another day! The only thing anyone can really do is shop at a supermarket or go for a walk. We went for a family walk in our local countryside yesterday and the Mrs says "look how many people there are on this path, its ridiculous". Yes love, we are some of those many people! Maybe if we had stayed in then it would have been a few less.

It amazes me how many people you see out and about when you're out and about.

I'd like to watch someone trying to wear 70% more masks!

I don't think I can copy it on my phone, but the one I read recently was this one I think, reported by someone called Dr Ignazio Maria Voila!, an expert in applied fluids dynamics at University of Edingburgh's School of Engineering, and reported in the journal Royal Society Open Science. I found it again now on " straitstimes.com/world/europe/masks-block-999-of-large-covid-linked-droplets " if you want to read it.

    what are you on about?
I had a socially distanced chat with my neighbour the other day while I was walking my dog. He informed me that there had been a party up near him on the Saturday where he thinks about 80-100 attended. He said he could see them from his bedroom window. Then a group of about 25 (18-25yr olds) sat on a wall next to his house just drinking away until 2am. He came to this country from Africa and said he was disgusted at the lack of respect some people have. He volunteers at the local church helping families in need (which is another story). He went on and said you would think nothing is going on the way some are acting.
I don't give a t2ss about T&T . If everyone acted properly we wouldn't have 70K dead and the cr2p we are in. It just comes down to a bit of respect, but sadly I am seeing the opposite.

When I walk the mut everyday you see the same old faces. when covid came and we had the lockdown I didn't see as many. Recently that has change. I don't mind people exercising/walking/families from same households... it's the people who are meeting up for drinks/parties,/gatherings round peoples house and the rest that bug me.
