Good Morning. It's New Years Eve. Whilst collectively we can all agree that 2020 was not a great year off the pitch,we must continue to look after our loved ones, buckle up our seat belts and dare to dream what 2021 has in store for us. Stay safe and Happy New Year!!! Here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Leeds Utd labelled as "inciteful and inappropriate" as club forced to back down over witch hunt. Officials at Leeds Utd have condemned Leeds fans on social media platforms for their singling out and verbal tirade's towards Soccer pundit Karen Carney! A club spokesperson said: "Leeds United completely condemns any abuse received by Karen Carney on social media following last night's Premier League game with West Bromwich Albion. "Everyone at our club respects Karen greatly for all she has achieved in the game, as well as her work in the media and the charity work she undertakes." Andrea Radrizzani added: "I'm very sorry Karen was abused on social media. I wanted to defend my club and our players from a comment which I felt was harsh from Karen on air. Our tweet wasn't offensive - simply stating that we won the league by 10 points. "We honestly didn't expect such a reaction and we are sorry she experienced that. I respect her as a person and a pundit and I hope she understands that we just want to defend our club, we are a family. "I hope the abuse stops and we can move forward and I hope Karen will be our guest at Elland Road soon - I'd like to meet personally with her." The Women in Football network described Leeds' tweet as "inciteful and inappropriate". "Whether you agree with the comment or not, singling out and ridiculing an individual on an official club account is not what we're here for," the group tweeted. "Karen Carney is a well-informed pundit. This tweet is inciteful and inappropriate. Not a good look now, or at any time." Thoughts? Whilst Leeds fans may be a little fickle (you know who you are!!!!) and a gang mentality can quickly evolve, I am yet to find a truly offensive comment, that the likes of Adrian Durham or Phil Neville just shake off Agree? As I see it, Leeds fans were angered as it was clear she had very little knowledge about us, and to make a strong statement you have to back it up! Unfortunately football pundits (not just Karen) know very little about Leeds. Unless you're in the Premier League, you are a forgotten entity. We are more or less playing with the same core team that won promotion last term (especially with our injuries). Were we playing any differently, this time last season - No! Unfortunately, unless you're Premier League, they're not interested. If Karen had backed up her comments, she would not have received any backlash. For instance, since Leeds were promoted back to the Championship in the 10/11 season (excluding last season) they averaged only nine points from their final nine games. Even in Bielsa's first season, they only averaged 10 points from their last nine games. She could have mentioned that last season during their tour of Australia, several Leeds players including skipper Liam Cooper expressed their fears about burnout to Michael Bridges. Here's the link: https://www.footballtransfertavern....n-from-players-about-marcelo-bielsas-methods/ Why didn't she - because she didn't know. If you're going to make comments, back them up!!!! please log in to view this image Leeds all red kit On Tuesday evening, Leeds reverted to their third kit, the all red (maroon) monstrosity. Whilst the display on the pitch grabbed most of the headlines, there was still a backlash on social media for defecting to the dark side!!!! The colour red is despised in Yorkshire ever since the war of the roses; not to mention the historic rivalry between Manchester Utd and Leeds. Even sponsors such as casino giants ’32 Red’ and McDonald’s had to do away with their traditional red colour in order to establish themselves with the club. If your sibling wanted the maroon (red) shirt for a Christmas or Birthday present, would you oblige, and buy it for them? What next, kids shouting from the terraces 'C'mon you reds'? please log in to view this image
Morning all and a happy New Year Everything that needed saying on the stupid woman thing was said yesterday. Shes thick and uninformed and stealing a wage from a bloke. End of! Looking forward to playing the Spuds on Saturday as it could be a game we ship a few goals or we could grab a point. Spuds are big favs to win especially as they go for the top spot, but think Bielsa will want to teach Jose’ a lesson or two
Morning all.. I prefer to call the colour Burgundy The tweet wasn’t done in the spiteful manner some are trying to lead everyone to believe. If individuals hound her in a sexist overly aggressive manner then the powers that be need to act on those individuals. The clubs tweet was pointing out that her comments or suggestion was pretty poor. To suggest we were only promoted due to Covid is an insult, it should be her apologising
Missleading and fake news spurs V Fulham was called off due to Covid in the Fulham camp. If Spurs V Leeds was called off, guess what, headline would read Leeds Spurs called off
But is it, it comes from the french word marron, which is a chestnut , which in turn is a shade of brown.
I wouldn't consider the kit red. Morning all and a happy new year. Stay safe and have a great night tonight, whatever your upto
I see Diego Simeoni has let Costa go but is now chasing Rodrigo to replace him. I dont think he can afford him
The women in football comment about radz tweet being inciteful and inappropriate is total ****e. It was nothing of the sort as per his follow up comment. Her comment was crass and insulting and ill informed.
It would read: Sexist/racist club who spread covid, have game called off and a suggested 25 pt deduction is on the cards.
Please tell me your comments here are tongue in cheek? If not then you are exactly the reason the club find themselves having to defend themselves even though having done nothing wrong. It is ok to disagree with what she has said. It is ok to even tell her why she was wrong. She is probably thick, she is very uninformed but stealing a job from a man? That had to be a wind up comment because its been a long time on here I've seen such an neanderthal comment.
