Areas being placed into Tier 4 include all of north-east England, Cumbria, Cheshire, Warrington, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen, most of West Midlands, all East Midlands except Rutland, large parts of South West.

Tier 3: Liverpool, Rutland, all Yorkshire and Humber, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, large parts of South West including Cornwall.

Nowhere will be in Tier 2.

Only Isles of Scilly in Tier 1.

Announcement on schools expected around 4pm.

I’m hearing Tier 4 Primary and Secondary schools will remain closed for another two weeks but nurseries will open.

Find it a bit weird tbh that we have gone from top of the table so to speak to being one of the very few areas in the "lowest" general tier from tomorrow onwards lol

No National lockdown? Really I shake my head in dismay. They are still clinging on to this stupid Tier system that few take seriously. I simply don’t understand what the Government is playing at but then again...I don’t think they do either.

So Gavin, it's Primary aged kids where the infection rate is raging out of control. Any ideas on what to do?

Yes, we'll send them all in to school immediately, without any tests and we'll sling all our eggs into a completely different basket. That should reduce transmission rates and save Granny.

The bloke is so far out of his depth it's unreal.

And yet people criticise others for being selective with how they adhere to the rules, even when they are irrational.

So only some primary schools in some Tier 4 areas won’t reopen. The list is supposed to be online but nobody can find it.

    Down 19 places.

And on a day where lots of cases and deaths from over Xmas were backlogged and added on, we’ve decreased in cases per 100k too.
