Just seen highest amount of hospital admissions since the pandemic began deffo getting serious really can’t see the season finishing not at our level anyway
The people most susceptible to the new strain are the ankle biters! They are like mosquitos and malaria..... CLOSE the fecking schools!
Continuation of football "not wise" says Rochdale's Club Doctor https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55475640 41,000 infections in the last 24 hours...
Bloody hell. Tier 4 is supposed to slow this thing down. And it's too soon after Christmas for any laxity on Dec 25th to be affecting figures yet.
For sure. These are the pressure points (factors spreading the virus) in my view - in descending order, worst at the top; Schools ... Close them & move to online learning. There has been more than enough time to prepare for this. 6th form colleges & Universities ... Close them too (see above) Rule breakers ... Crack down hard on these idiots. Name and shame the worst offenders, so sensible folk can avoid and shun them. Work (sweat shops and firms flouting the rules) ... Crack down hard on these. Close them down. Make sure vulnerable workers are supported. Public transport ... Make it for essential/key workers only. Non-essential work ... Produce a clear list of essential work, and shut down everything else. Tourism ... stop idiots driving around the country, and ban tourists flying in or out of the UK. Sporting events ... including Football. Shut it down. Void the seasons and start again in August. I would NOT limit the opening hours of supermarkets though - that just causes more queues and crowds there. Also I would NOT stop freight trade (like the French did). Properly monitored freight transport doesn't spread the virus. Such a proper lockdown will involve pain and consequences, not least for victims of domestic violence and control freaks. But it looks as if nothing milder is going to STOP this new variant virus from spreading. We cannot go on with 50,000+ new infections every day. The NHS will collapse. Then we will really be in the sh*t. Sorry, I know this strays a bit off-topic. But we have an attitude problem with football I think. It's being maintained for political purposes (like keeping schools open) in defiance of good science.
The Oxford vaccine has just been approved for use. The U.K. Government has ordered 100 million doses. It’s nearly over folks.
Spurs v Fulham in the Premier League this evening is OFF - due to Coronavirus positive tests. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55420342 I believe that's the third Premier League fixture postponed for this reason so far. I don't know how many L1 games have been called off - I would guess maybe 20 so far? And all fan attendance at football matches is now ended again, with the whole country now in Tier 3 or 4 of the pandemic rules. A dark day for football once more, but a necessary one to help save lives. EDIT: Apologies for posting this message half an hour after the supposed kick-off time I thought it might be a later evening kick-off.
Here is a piece capped from the BBC website; Nearly 50 professional games called off so far because of COVID19. Shocking stat...
The Premier League will be completed. Probably the Championship too. For all league lower than that I think it's 50/50 right now. If the seasons are cancelled with fewer than half the games played, I think all results should be expunged. Then we go again from scratch in August.
Poor Jose. A week's work wasted. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55506922 Our hearts go out to you and your stressed-out players...
Brentford v Bristol City in the Championship tomorrow is OFF https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55450050 You can guess why. Luton v QPR is also off, same reason. The other 9 scheduled games in the Championship are still on at the moment. Luton played Bristol City only three days ago.
