I think RAWA are desperate to avoid being seen as happy clapping wide eyed dopes cosying up the 'the other side' ... ... and lost sight that we should all be on the same side.
The text below was in the clubs statement on Christmas Eve and mentioned by Speakman and Johnson when they joined. As far as I am concerned the new regime have already given us their plans and now we just have to hold on and enjoy the ride. The Rawa open letter was not needed at all as the new owner has told us all we need to know. Moving forward, we have a long-term strategy which integrates Sunderland’s proud traditions with a modern structure and approach. We will seek to be at the frontier of research and innovation in all performance domains and place great emphasis on player development and the team’s style of play. We want to create a team that is entertaining to watch and that embodies the spirit and the culture of those who attend, thereby reconnecting the team with its fanbase, whose support will be so vital to our success
Once the RAWA convert to a trust, will it's members 'demand' what it's own long term plan is? I hope it's elected committee are prepared to produce various strategic documents which outline it's members' vision for the trust. I look forward to reading, reviewing and offering constructive feedback on their annual review documentation and also commenting on their performance against their various goals and targets that have been set at the beginning of the season. One of the first things that needs sorting is a communication strategy to its members and the wider fan base. How do they plan to increase membership to better reflect the supporters? Do they have a target to increase membership by x% over the season? If they don't, who is accountable?Who has access to the social media accounts and are they suitably qualified? Just a few thoughts that might help them out.
And gave him the perfect excuse not to spend in the transfer window. He probably wasn't going to anyway but we'll never know for certain.
What are their contingencies for situations such as covid? will a 5 person panel decide what the massive want on their own? Do they have the capability to hold Zoom meetings with their members prior to issuing any statement on their behalf? Other points for them to consider
Is this still with the EFL? Haven’t been checking this thread as much since the club statement so I assume it is.
I am very excited about the takeover, a new era dawns, hopefully an exciting team to watch after the turgid negativity of the last 2 managers.

"Sunderland fans know all too well that it's dangerous to become too excited when a new owner takes the reigns .... .... However, trying to temper that excitement is futile." Firstly, no it's not 'dangerous' to get excited, it's supposed to be exciting .... that's the whole point! Whether you're ultra cautious or ultra excited any disappointment feels the same. People who demand, and display, caution are simply doing it to cover their arse so they can't get any 'told you so' if it goes wrong. Secondly, if it's futile to try to temper that excitement why even mention it?
It's been Christmas holidays and they also have L1 collapsing with Covid to deal with. The EFL approval is a formality but Louis-Dreyfus can't be officially installed without it. (I've been told it'll be announced when he's here for the Fleetwood match on the 9th of Jan, but the message was by pm from someone I don't know and hasn't posted yet. Sometimes people try to leg me up by giving me duff info then hoping I'll post it so they can snigger about it.)
I don't know what the fuss is about man, Charlie would have told him that SAFC fans know **** all about football anyhow.
This club survived nearly 120 years without the need for any sort of RAWA type group. Whilst something similar may have been useful during previous times, i.e. Murray red card protests, to co-ordinate some form of action, basically it's never been needed to get a mood or message across. Then we came to the current owners and their shenanigans and a group like RAWA was probably needed to co-ordinate and get answers as with all the various fan groups social media has spawned, loads were voicing unofficial views but passing them off as the fans views (ironically what RAWA have done with this statement). However, now that we have new owners coming in, there may not even be a need for RAWA or a similar type group, in an ideal world they should be able to 'stand down' as no longer required, we don't need to co-ordinate action, the club will be transparent with us as fans and the early indications are they will be. They've already been open about adopting a style of play, putting a structure in place behind the scenes, developing local talent etc etc. My view is these people now see themselves as someone bigger and better than others, they are a committee and they want to drive through what they want, a trust or whatever, and flex their muscles, show that they have a say. In reality that may not be needed and nothing should be said and done until, or if, it's required. I'm a member of RAWA, I thought such a group was needed at the time and supported it but currently I see no further need unless the new regime start to fail or not follow through on what they've initially said. That in itself will take time so certainly not any time soon so I would like to see them mothballed and fade into the background until such time comes (and hopefully doesn't).
Agree. In principle I have no issue with a "fans group" that liaises with the club on certain matters, but they absolutely do not speak for all, or even the majority of fans. Very dangerous territory
In what way do they hold the owners to account, not trying to be funny just wondering what they actually do to hold the owners to account
Dear Kyril we love you Sunderland we do we love you Sunderland we do we love you Sunderland we do Ooooh Sunderland we love you Welcome to Wearside
They stamp their feet and send out strong statements. Accountability 101 for a 3 year old that wants to be the centre of attention
I would hope the first thing KLD does is get into the minds of the local press, they are a ****ing disgrace, twisting everything in an attempt to destabilise us even further (if that was possible). The Sunderland squad get COVID and immediately the press are all over it suggesting we will be investigated, nothing mentioned when the mags got it weeks earlier, now suggestions on twitter we have done it on purpose, which they no doubt will pick up. They quite rightly went to town on the Adam Johnson disgrace, but washed over George Ormond, the paedophile who according to the Chronicle only "helped out at Newcastle" . According to them, Carver said "he helped him out at the club in a voluntary capacity as a kit man, bus driver and general helper". He was their ****ing youth team coach in 70s and was an assistant in the Premier League, but they didn't mention that What about the tax case? I bet you a pound to a pinch of ****e, if this had been Sunderland, there would be constant reminders in the local press. Hopefully, KLDs lawyers will be scrutinising these ****ers not like Donald's version of Browell Smith and Co
This is the front page 'mission statement' from the RAWA website. "Our goal is to inform, liaise with and communicate with the club to maintain the relationship between supporters and Sunderland AFC." That's lovely lads, now just stick to that and you'll be fine.
Hi All. hope all are well. This "Demands of the fans" stuff is something I'm uncomfortable with, but I'm sure Mr Dreyfus will take it with a pinch of salt. I'm sure most football fans around the world have seen what we're about on Sunderland til I die on Netflix. Including a billionaire that had decided to put his hand in his pocket and take a major controlling steak. It's clear to all in that show that we're not a set of "demanding" fans. In fact we're the opposite. Times in the past probably could've made a noise about not being happy. We just recently get that possible tag about how many Managers the club have went through over the past few years, but at the end of the day it's not we the fans that do the hiring and firing. Let's let the lad get through the door, back him and see what happens. There's a clear infrastructure in place and that's before the EFL sign it off. I've said on many occasions that we'll have the last laugh, and the comedian is just warming up. Great times are coming so let's just all enjoy it,eh?
