Well as it's Christmas and the first two predictions have been positive, I'll continue the trend for the sake of it.

Not looked at Northampton's form and no disrespect to them, can't be arsed...

0-3 Gills (anyone that's not injured)....ok, ok Akinde hat-trick, go on my son!

Covid might win this one !
I am wondering if the game will be played ................. Rochdale have had their game v Blackpool called off - because of a [ Northampton ] positive test....The identity of the players has yet to be disclosed - but I suspect that it is a regular of their first eleven --- perhaps somebody who played against Gills las week ----- will that mean that Gills players should 'isolate' as a precaution ? (( at least to get tested ! )) The situation could end up being a logistical nightmare for the fixtures.

I gave a clue : [[ Northamptoon ]], which stated that a Northampton player had been tested positive --- I presumed that the Rochdale players, having come into close contact with the Northampton player, were advised/compelled to isolate - hence their unavailability for the game with Blackpool ---- and the isolation period for Northampton is likely to impact on 29th December - but, as I'm struggling with the handball rule - I might be wrong.

    Don't know - Don't really care !
I had read ( maybe an inaccurate article ), that a Northampton player had tested positive for Covid - and that Northampton had ( allegedly ) recently played Rochdale ** - and seeing that Gills have also very recently played Rochdale there was a possibility of a whole load of players from several teams needing to isolate. If any of the permutation of teams were incorrectly stated in the article, then I could be wrong -- but --- whilst I can blame it on bad journalism ( I believe it was in the BBC Sports pages ), - given all the games that are being cancelled - including for ''cross-contamination'' reasons, it's hardly surprising that we don't know if a game will happen right up until 'taking the knee.'

** Trust me - I did read it -- why would I fabricate the statement - I have zero interest in Northampton or Rochdale FC ( apologies to Tim. )

OK -So I'm a little bit wrong - but not entirely !
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55470632

I have tried to find the source of my 'misinformation!' - If you click on the highlighted word; ' Rochdale ,' it will state that Rochdale ( not Northampton ), have had to cancel games because of positive testing of players and staff, and their need to self-isolate.
In view of how recently Gills played Rochdale, I suspected that Gills may need to seek testing - and the possibility of positive results leading to our need to self-isolate........
...... leading to my original doubt about our fixture with Northampton......................

........ So, I wish to apologise to any reader who might have been upset, offended or infected by me coughing out the inaccuracy of the ''workings out '' of my post (( even if the answer achieved was right ! ))
.... and - apologies to Northampton FC for my 'accusation' that they have had positive tests for Covid19.

.... I'm now going to self isolate myself from my keyboard ! (( that's not a New Year resolution ))

You keep on about this number 19 Covid fella, I've never heard of him, and we can't sign anyone before January anyway.
