While I understand the sentiment, the timing and wording of the statement was wrong. We had an amazing piece of news on Christmas Eve and if they wanted to put something out they just needed to say welcome KLD and we look forward to meeting him and hearing about his plans for the future. Short and simple.
I never gave my kids any money they just stole it. So I took them on a far east holiday and sold them in Vietnam I think it was. They'll be earning money and I've got a few bob in my wallet so everyones a winner
I agree, in my opinion the RAWA statement could have been worded better without implying any issues, but on the whole it's pretty benign, I feel the Echo is mixing a bottle trying to headline grab and cause a bit of friction. My problem with it is they have no right to speak for me or make a statement on my behalf, I am a member of RAWA and had no say whatsoever in the content of this message. A short generic welcoming statement would have sufficed and any concerns should have been raised at the first meeting with club officials after consultation with fans. In the transition period Jim Rodwell will provide the continuity and inform KLD of anything he needs to know about the club and the supporters. I would bet a pound to a pinch of ****e that KLD is fully aware of the breakdown in trust between Donald, Methven and the fanbase.
Why wouldn't he want to understand what our fans want? It's not the same as demanding to know what his plans are, they're gonna tell him that we don't like seeing our best young players sold and want to see a smart long term plan.
But he is the billionaire He will run the club the way he sees fit I’m sure he will get all the advice from his paid staff
To steal from EJK it could have been as simple as... Nice one Kyril, Nice one son. Welcome to Wearside. We want to shag your mum
Depends, will the owner have done everything he said he wouldn't in the meantime? I.e become an absent silent owner, sign old overpriced ****e on unfavourable contracts, lie about the finances etc etc.
Aye it's not to oversee him obviously, it's because he is going to want to know what the fans want. Why wouldn't he?
"Nevertheless, we hope to meet with him soon, where we will do our bit to help him understand the passion and demands of our fans." You appear quite specific and seem to be speaking on behalf of RAWA, is that the case? How do you know what they're going to say? Why do you think someone who's appointed a man like Speakman needs to be given advice about young players ... ... it's already been made clear that it's a top priority. He already knows what the fans want, exactly the same as all fans. He won't need that explaining to him like he's a daft teenager. "Kristjaan Speakman is SAFC’s new Sporting Director. The 41-year-old arrives from Birmingham City and a club statement says he will “take primary responsibility for reviewing and implementing new strategies to develop the club’s footballing infrastructure, with an emphasis on data analytics and innovation, and providing a clear pathway from the younger age groups to the first team.” Speaking of the appointment, Speakman said: “I have been tasked with delivering a best-in-class player development model from the academy through to the senior squad and given a realistic timeframe and budget with which to do so. It is an absolute honour to have been invited to do this at one of England’s biggest clubs. The blueprint for the future and the ambition to create a sustainable structure with a clear identity is one I will work diligently and passionately to bring to fruition for Sunderland fans. I’m grateful for the autonomy granted me by the ownership group to pursue this plan and create something we can all be proud of.” “We understand the frustration of the present circumstances and whilst we seek patience and continued support for the longer-term objectives, we are absolutely determined to fix key issues in the short term to establish a winning team. The task of appointing a Head Coach who is both aligned to the overall plan and capable of impacting the team’s performance and style in the immediate weeks and months is a priority above all else. I fully understand the potential of the football club and I’m looking forward to working collectively with staff, players and fans to restore the club to its rightful place in the Premier League. There’s no doubt about the size of the task ahead of us and the need to be pragmatic in our approach, but we all share the same dream and the work starts now to make this a reality.”
Good point, they've said RAWA have put a strong statement out. It's a glorified welcome to the club, please excuse our cynicism imo.
