In all seriousness I wonder if the “mid January” is a conservative estimate by us or what they’ve been quoted by the EFL. For all we know the guy with the stamp is back to work tomorrow and takes one look and just says “oh go on then”.
As an aside - two quotes from KLD in that l’equipe interview got me big today. “I haven’t slept in three weeks” “You can’t buy that!” just brilliant. We aren’t an afterthought for him or just a random investment. This is huge for him. We have a motivated, intelligent, resourceful and connected owner. Donald was one of those at best, and that was only for the first year. Short was perhaps two. This guy is all 4.
I just did a quick search for my post but couldn't see it. Doesn't matter anyway, I'm really bored with all this stuff tbh ... ... just want to get back to being a daft lad watching his team. I only kept posting stuff cos I could see people losing heart and that hurts me as a Sunderland supporter.
I know. Tongue in cheek. Can’t wait to see / read more and begin seeing action (although with Speakman we’ve started seeing it already)
Yes they can. But they cannot choose how many come to their country from another EU country, which is the point I was aiming to make. Other, broader immigration arrangements are indeed the province of individual countries, though no country from the EU could ever negotiate any kind of trade deal which included immigration as part of it, such as the CANZUC notion, as this falls within the competency of the EU and it's customs union.
Yeah it took me by surprise him saying he hadn't been sleeping, don't know how literal he's being but it's obvious how much he cared about getting the deal done. I was picturing him as being more detached and aloof but there's passion there. Just wait until he experiences a packed SoL firing on all cylinders he'll be goosebumping like a mofo.
Sorry, but you wrote "The whole matter turns on whether or not a country has the right to make it's own laws in this regard - and of course all others. In the EU we do not. Outside of it we do" You are conflating two separate issues, we make our own immigration laws but we are signatories to the EU freedom of movement and residence agreement. The option to work and live in the EU is open to all EU citizens equally and has no relevance to any other type of immigration which we have laws in place to control.
To be fair, RAWA have never claimed to speak for all fans. All they can do is speak for their members (and if the members disagree with the position RAWA take on various issues they can vote the people out at the AGM). I think when they say "fans are concerned about..." it tends to quite accurately reflect the fan base. Obviously the committee have their own opinion , but they also have various reps (myself included) who feed back on things they are hearing. That might be Ghandi Floss feeding back on common concerns on RTG or malcolm feeding back on things the senior supporters have voiced concern over. Then there's the surveys and the chats we have with fans at the various meetings. By and large I think most concerns are reflected. The trust thing is a big change, and I know where you're coming from in terms of accountability etc. All I can say is that, so far, I'm very impressed with the people on the committee and don't think they'll ever do anything other than the right thing. The key thing for me (which I know they're going to do) is to be very transparent about what money is coming in and where its being spent. I wouldn't worry about them having any sort of negative take on things. Obviously as a coopted rep I'm on a group chat with them and I'd say every single person on there is delighted with KLD coming in. Furthermore there's a bit of a feeling that recently RAWA has almost been like a protest group, or certainly some wanted them to go that way. If protesting was what the club needed then I dare say they'd have helped lead something, but a lot of people are looking forward to being able to do other things. I'm hoping there's a decent relationship between RAWA and the club so that I can get involved with the community stuff, things around supporter experience, atmosphere etc. No one has any desire to be a pain in the arse for KLD, no one wants to mouth off for attention, and as long as we're looking like a professionally run club (and initial signs are positive in that regard) having a supporter's trust will hopefully be beneficial for the club. Hopefully good times ahead, let's just enjoy it!
He stayed in a nice little cottage down in Canon Cockin St IRRC. Loved it and bought the whole street.
Agree. Can't wait to hear directly from the lad about their plans and see the new structure and who they bring in Re read the club statement a few time and really wet my appetite for potentially big things to come Firstly it completely drew a line under all the **** people have been spouting. KLD is in charge and Donald has gone (if not completely - all but) "Kyril Louis-Dreyfus to acquire Stewart Donald’s controlling interest in the club" Donald "I look forward to watching that progress from afar" Really noticeable we have heard nothing from the "Nothings Happening" brigade here and across the road" This is not just some wet behind the ears rich kid. He is backed by money Family and advisors who are not used to failure "from the early meetings with Kyril, his family and advisers, I have been greatly impressed with their knowledge and understanding, learned over a long period as owners of major football clubs in Belgium and France." Then there is KLD himself saying "We will seek to be at the frontier of research and innovation in all performance domains and place great emphasis on player development and the team’s style of play. We want to create a team that is entertaining to watch and that embodies the spirit and the culture of those who attend" This is a new era for the club. Cant wait. Roll on the bloody vaccine
I agree with what your saying mate, I've signed up to the RAWA emails from the start and will contribute to the trust when it converts, I just don't like it when it's quoted (by any of the groups or fanzines) as 'the fans want X, y and Z' - even if I agree 100%, I just don't like it . I'd rather they didn't encompass everyone involved unless everyone has been asked their opinion democratically. Hopefully there are people on RAWA suggesting things on and off the pitch in terms of fan zones, non match day income potential etc. All the best GG - top poster.
Apologies if I'm getting ahead of things GG but do RAWA link in to the FSA and then feed up to the dept for culture media and sport to try and get us back to the matches? Just trying to work out how big the remit of RAWA actually is. Cheers.
Fair enough. But free movement of the type available in the EU to about 400m people, (without the UK), to go and live wherever they want, whether they had a job or not or were educated or had skills or not, will never be part of any agreement with any other developed country. Nor should it be.
Good post mate. TBF the 'nothing is happening' brigade would do themselves a favour by coming on and saying 'fair enough' ... ... but, despite a thousand 'fakeover' posts, they simply can't manage just one more and slink away. They're pathetic little people who'll hide until our first defeat.
