Labour have been breaking the law for years. They were found guilty of 3 breaches of the equality act 2010 regarding racism within the party. I believe they're the first party in the UK to do so. Regardless of how much their voters try to play it down and sweep it under the carpet, that doesn't sit well with me.

It's a cliche now but Boris Johnson was voted in to get Brexit done. He managed to get that done despite the best efforts of many MP's and parliament to go against the UK's democratic wishes. I fully expect the areas up here that turned blue for the first time to go back to Labour at the next election regardless of who is leading either party. If parliament hadn't have thwarted Brexit for so long we probably wouldn't have ended up with Boris Johnson as the UK's leader.

It should also be remembered that there was no credible opposition up against Boris Johnson at the last election. People voted for who looked like the best candidate, at the time. That's not the public's fault. The Labour party had lost itself to momentum and Jeremy Corbyn. This country will never vote for an ultra left wing party. That isn't who we are but that's who Labour had morphed into. Keir Starmer will move them back towards the centre and win the next election.

The EU has always said that we can not expect to have all the same advantages with none of the 'responsibilities' after we left.
And that's fair enough.
By the same token they can not have all they previously go out of our membership.

I agree with most of what you wrote with the exception of the next election. As a life long Labour supporter it pains me to say I don't think its possible for them to win an election with a working majority while the SNP are so strong in Scotland, I might have my numbers wrong but I think it was 38 seats lost over the border, thats a big chunk out of their total number of MP's

The government have been good with Nissan for years. Both Labour and Conservatives. Once Brexit was confirmed Nissan closed down their plants in Spain and moved the work to the UK.

 

There seems to be another shift happening in world politics now. Countries seem to be moving away from the right and towards centre/left of centre. I predict the Conservatives will be held to account by the electorate at the next election and Labour will form a minority government or come to a supply and confidence arrangement. Probably with the SNP, if Scotland hasn't gone for independence by then.

 

I've been active/interested in politics for 50 years and during that time elections have aleays been fought on the centre ground, right or left extremes are not acceptable to the UK electorate.
In my opinion, if Scotland gain their independence the boundary commission would need to work some magic to make our political system competetive again

 

Really Labour needs to somehow rekindle the support in Scotland. Very difficult but if Scotland goes independent our party system and boundaries may need to be rethought. I personally would like to see Labour gsin a foothold in Scotland as despite everything the UK will ve stronger as one.

TBF none of the laws Labour broke will lead to another 10 years of austerity paid for by the working class. Johnson has used a Pandemic to illigally fill his mates pockets and it directly effects every working class person in this country.
