It's the usual Arsenal, but I feel sorry for Arteta. Nice bloke with a job that I suppose is a bit big for him, but they started well

The folly of putting a former player as manager of the club too soon without the proper experience first.

Glad Gerrard is at Rangers and not taking Klopps job. <laugh>

You are absolutely wrong to feel sorry for him.

    a) He played for Arsenal and is now their manager (not the biggest sin but still...)
    b) He played for Everton
    c) He worked for Man City
    d) He took a huge job before he was ready... its his own fault

I always kinda like Arsenal. In many years they were the better option rather than United winning the title. To me, I always had a mild favouritism for them out of our tradition big four rivals. The enemy of my enemies is my friend type thing. They hated Chelsea and United more than they hated us, and we hated United and Chelsea more than them. So in those long years where we always finished 4th or thereabouts, they were my favourites for being the least worst option to win. <laugh>

I think he will be ok if he can ride the storm, there are average players at Arsenal he needs to move on.

    Ain't gonna happen overnight

Yeah. He needs time, but they're in free-fall at the moment, so he may not get it.

I don't see where Everton and Citeh come into the equation. That was back then.

    Do you like Everton?
    Do you like Citeh?

(tbh its less about Citeh as club, more about the recent ownership of Citeh)

He is forever connected to those clubs

Arsenal are not to give him time. I would be surprised if he's still there at the end of the season.

You know full well I dislike both. This is about him as a young manager having a go at a new career. He's not as obnoxious as some in management

Probably should have tried somewhere else first.

Abit arrogant to think he would walk into a job like Arsenal and things would go right. The guy has no experience and Arsenal are in a massive mess atm, it was always going to end badly.

Look I don't hate him and frankly I really have no opinion on whether he should stay or be sacked, but at the same time I don't feel sorry for him. Anyone could see that that job was going to be one that needs someone who knew what they were doing.

Arteta should have gone for a smaller team where he could get some experience first. Learn what works and what doesn't before jumping into a job that has alot of problems to solve.

No because he comes out with more crap than Rodgers did when was in charge of us.

stats say we had a % chance of winning this this and this but we loss... well yeah that’s cos footballs about sticking the ball in the net ffs!

Add in how he thinks his team play so well and film of fighters when really half of them are overpaid over the hill and the other half are just poor prem players.

then there is his voice... and the fact his hair is suspiciously dark

Surprised he hasn't already been sacked. That's probably only because in their current state they've got no chance of attracting the sort of manager they think their status as a club deserves. I think that's the only thing keeping him in the position now. I mean, looking at it objectively it's an Allardyce job, but he's unavailable now unfortunately for them. No sympathy for Arteta or Arsenal whatsoever

Sort of agree, when they were at their height as 'the invincibles' I had a respect for them and the football they played, they were a brilliant team with exactly the right manager for the time, plus I had a couple of friends who were big Gooners and decent, rational people. Since then mostly everything they've done as a club seems to have been folly, bad decisions on and off the pitch, and run on stupidity and cluelessness, and despite my old friends their fans don't help, particularly the Youtube stuff, so these days I have no feeling towards the club and I actually hope they're relegated just because of the significance of that and the story it will be <cool>:bandit: That would be a shame for them and I'd hope they'd rebuild and come back again, but it's been a long time since one of the bigger clubs dropped out of the top flight, so if they go they go

Do you really think they will? I tend to think they'll have enough to survive.
Though they do have some players who really aren't good enough.

No of course I don't think they will, ultimately, but I'd love to see it, just for the giggles

Surely a 'big' club has to make the drop at some point though ??

Can't remember the last time - mostly because their wealth is enough to bail them out usually. I think if Arsenal are still atrocious by two-thirds of the way through the season they'll ditch him and bring in a rescuer.
