They’ve detected this new variant in Hong Kong now. No doubt it’s all over Europe. Surely people cannot be expecting anything otherwise. Good news about confirmation of the Vaccine efficiency.
South Africans and anyone that has met them have to isolate for 14 days. More areas of the East and South East move to Tier 4.
This thread may need upgrading to include Tier 5 https://www.express.co.uk/news/poli...-johnson-meeting-tier-4-update-map-new-strain
2 cases of the virus found so far. All those who have arrived in the UK from South Africa in the past 2 weeks should immediately go into isolation. I thought all arrivals into the UK had to do 14 days of isolation.
It just occurred to me that the cricket tour of SAF was abandoned last week due to potential exposure to covid. Wonder if they brought it back?
I honestly feel like it's become one of those "Well, we've gone this far. Gonna look hella weak if we turn around now. We might as well head into another couple of lockdowns even tho it'll just end up in the same circle as before".
Think it’s just a case here of delaying and slowing the virus until enough vulnerable people are vaccinated now.
Have you seen anything that gives a figure for how many people need to be vaccinated to lift the strain on the NHS and therefore limit the need for lockdowns, and do the 2 million plus that have already had it, count as being vaccinated? I'm reckoning that with the vaccines, we're nigh on 3 million protected so far, plus the best part of 20 million at school age that are liable to be protected naturally, we should be well on the way.
Anyone got any stats of how many deaths from flu/pneumonia per months or per week this winter in comparison to previous winters?
Closest you will get to that is this image showing that we are above average on daily deaths in general and that Covid is a decent % of that number please log in to view this image
It takes a week to start working and is only 50% effective after the first dose, so we’ve a fair way to go yet.
