The problem then becomes, if Arteta goes. I think edu needs to as well, the whole hierarchy IMO. And that’s possibly why they are delaying this.
Why does Edu have to go? We all believed in Arteta, he started with good promise, had good intentions, football is results based. Arteta would have no complaints if he was dismissed a few weeks ago. It is not that complicated. Any decent team, would have fired him by now.. I am really at a loss what they are waiting for! I wonder if Freddie's record was this bad?
All true but like i said this is his first managerial job he's never encountered any of these problems before and we have all the added weirdness of no crowds and 2020 thrown in. Its not exactly a 'normal year' - which will be taken into account. Edu seems to think the team is much imrpoved in training - it just hasnt translated on to the pitch. But it cant go on for much longer thats for sure - Who do they get though? Allegri wants a new job in the Summer, I suppose Pochettinos free. There's not alot of options thats for sure. I wonder if they could bring Wenger in as technical director for 6 months. Have him oversee everything.
No matter what 'weirdness' we've experienced this year, or lack of stability, this doesn't justify being 16th in the division. Our squad isn't THAT bad. As for who we could get, that's what the Arsenal hierarchy are paid for. But here are some names who could improve us: Ralph Hassenhuttl Marco Rose Brendan Rodgers Max Allegri Ralf Ragnick Jesse Marsch Julian Nagelsmann For me personally, I'd like to see Ragnick come in as interim head coach, stabilise things and give us a proper plan/structure that we have actions for, then in the Summer, let someone like Marsch/Nagelsmann take over. Edu and Arteta can go.
Nagelsmann would be my choice but to be honest I dont know why he would come to Arsenal. He's got a good squad and a bunch of TOP class youngsters primed to break through into the first team. Allegri would be massively expensive but would be interesting for sure.
Just turned on to see Mustafi being classic Mustafi and letting City score. This is soo bad - looks like we could get thrashed.
To be fair we've got ourselves back into this and have put in a decent effort. Martinelli has been good. Need to see Martinelli and Saka in the same side - definetely our best youngsters.
Foden is quality. To be fair though with VAR that goal would be Offside and Fernandinho would have been sent off.
Runarrson is not going to make it. he was a cheap cup keeper replacement, but still just pointing it out.
Willock is dangerous running on to balls around the box but on the ball with players infront of him he is pretty useless.
One question I have is what does this result do for Arteta. Its a competition we dont really care about against a team we are not expected to beat. But we are 4-1 down and I cant say we played 'well' Does this further sharped the knives of the Arteta out contingency, or was this a free punt so to speak?
What the hell were Arsenal thinking..buying Runarrson as our 2nd keeper! Also what's happened to Reiss Nelson, always rated him as a playmaker. Our teams lacks any coherence, side ways...backwards..zero cut, thrust or gusto. Arteta's tactics are so ****e! Both backs were a pile of ****e too! I'd rather we lose 4-1 every week but at least be trying to score, I see a total disjointedness between midfield and the forwards.
free punt as Mickey Mouse cup, we will get back to the serious business of losing in the PL on Boxing Day when we gift Chelsea 3 points and Werner scores
Runarsson was never a signing we needed. Cedric was not a signing we needed. Mari should not have been signed permanently after making 2 full appearances for us. Willian should never have been signed - period. Mustafi and Kolasinac aren't going to be Arsenal players for much longer, so why start them at all? Arteta said before the game Saliba wasn't ready to feature for us, but he's been playing Runarsson who also has not been ready? It's the same situation. Why start Elneny and Ceballos, two of our current first-team midfielders (due to personnel injuries), when we have Smith-Rowe & Azeez who have looked hungrier and more keen to play? Why not bring on Balogun earlier when it was clear Lacazette wasn't up to it (despite his goal)? He should have played a starting 11 that would have shown us that the Chelsea game was a higher priority. We still would have lost, but we'd have been able to justify it, whilst showing that he has full commitment and belief in our younger players moving forward. Arteta speaks so eloquently, but everything he does completely contradicts what he says. The writing is on the wall. The board just don't want to accept they've made another bad managerial appointment because it would raise more questions about them. I'm telling you all now. With the way Arteta is behaving, and the way the team is performing, we are just delaying the inevitable.
