What do you think of Chelsea? The football club that is. Just curious, I know 15 years ago things were hot between out clubs. Curious what most people think now.
Are we talking about them as a club: Its a No for me. They started the mega rich Sugar Daddy coming in buying tophies craze. Abramovich is the Archetype of impatient owner who must spend money to achieve success and if they don't **** hit the fan (Managers lose their jobs). They're responsible for what has happened at Man City and PSG, who have taken the Chelsea idea to the next level. And in all cases Youth misses out as the demand for instant Wins means they can't be trusted to achieve that. Are we talking about them as a team: Decent team, some great attacking talent which once they're settled they'll be a big threat. However can't defend for ****.
Just general impression of them. What emotion comes to mind when you hear "Chelsea Football Club". Do you still consider them a major rival and dislike them more than most teams, are just not really care. What prompted the question was @zanjino on another thread suggested Jose was partially disliked because of his association with Chelsea. He mentioned their booing the minute silence as reason he doesn't like Chelsea. I was just curious, because I've long since stopped viewing Chelsea as a special rival or had any negative feeling towards their club, but I didn't know if I'm the norm or the outlier here. Do we still hate Chelsea as a club?
For the record, I do blame Roman for starting this trend in Europe of buying mid table clubs and funding them to glory... But I cant find myself hating Chelsea despite that.
I try not to. Kidding. I have no ill feelings towards them - only the select few fans who Insist on bashing Liverpool. They've actually been quite good to watch under most managers other than Mourinho - he was the main reason that I hated them in the past, not least because he stoked the hatred between the clubs. I think football has moved on too much for people to get hung up on how their fortune came about, but that's just my opinion. I can understand why people wouldn't like them.
I don't like them but I don't hate them. I would say they're a rival. And I don't like their model for running a football club. And they are responsible for inviting Maureen into English Football. But they're more of a 'competition Rival' rather than a historic or geographical rival
I dislike them more than most. Some where between utd and spurs. As with alot of teams I either like or don't like i can't actually remember why it started. I expect Frank Lampard will be in there somewhere. Then again as I get older I find my animosity towards other clubs has faded some what. I'm not massively arsed about anybody any more. The roman thing doesn't bother me to much, I was thinking about it the other night, if you bought any other business and pumped your own money into it to make it more profitable and hopefully worth more no one would blink , its a ball ache but nothing more.
I have an instinctive dislike due to visiting Stamford bridge a number of times in the 70's and i think anyone who went back then understands why . Now can't say i'm that bothered they are just another club which as i type go 3 up against WHam .
Chelsea are one type of abusive muck raking scumbag club. Ra could have bought millwall and the result could be the same. Some very nasty fans there, obviously not all but some. A lot of gold digging and a lot of flouting rules for the ego of one man. They are still a small club with a lot of money. But on the bright side when lampard gets the sack Dr winning nothing again it will be funny
I can’t see how we can ignore them as they have the ability to spend big to rectify any weakness. They’ll remain our direct rivals as long as they have the current financial support,. And we’ll dislike them accordingly.
They thought they'd bought Torres but they bought his shadow. That banner they made for him which was an exact copy in blue of ours, complete with Shankly gates was hilarious. They treated Rafa with less than he deserved as well. Only Everton and utd are our enduring rivals, the others, including Chelsea, come and go. On the plus side, Bobby is probably our best rival fan on here.
though since Bobby isn't on the site , never mind our board , much these days probably should go to Libby right now .
@moreinjuredthanowen is attempting an ongoing impression of opposition fans with his super negative opinions of pretty much all our players
I'm attempting nuthn. no critique allowed of players unless of course people are in the middle of a rant on any given match thread.
