To be able to play out from the back, 2 quality full backs are needed, with pace and a keen eye for a pass. The movement obviously has to come from in front of them, all the way up the pitch. We used to coach the kids at leeds to do this without a ball in play. Sounds silly but it was all about position movement and development. Creating the spaces for others to move in to. Fitness, communication and initiative were key to this. We are just not capable of doing this. I get furious when we try, lose it on the second ball and our defensive line is still playing people onside in our own 18 yard box.

Amos is out injured - maybe he is more of a miss than we all realised.
I think we def need an old experienced "general" to gel the team together and get Smyth back - I think that his ability to run at defences would def help out Chair. And maybe help out the likes of Dykes and Bonne.
It would have been nice to see a more level playing field with the FFP as we appear to be the only club screwed for £40 million plus.

I think scoring is a percentage game; and our new forwards aren’t getting enough chances to hit the percentages. I’m afraid our movement through the midfield and from the wings is poor.
How many times do we get forward, look lost and pass back!
I’d be tearing my hair out as a forward thinking a move was starting and it all disappears back into our own half again. Then I get torn apart as a forward for not scoring goals.

His team selections are so predictable now, you’ve got bettachi who’s always on the bench without coming on, looked ok towards end of last season, Young Kelman give him a go & some other youngsters just to spruce it up a bit

I'm not sure I see Pearson fitting in well to the ethos of the club, Ubes. Unless he's a changed man!

The pool of viable candidates is soon to shrink.

Any manager opposed to bringing on youngsters, buying unpolished diamonds, trying to play good, expansive football when possible and occasionally trying to win a match shouldn't be employed by any club these days.

I'd drive him to the ground myself today, but I appreciate he's not to everybody's taste.

The point I was just trying to make that if as a club we were looking for progress that is the ambition we should have had. I completely get that since we have lost the majority for first picks from last season that may have been an unrealistic expectation and the fact that this season the ground is looking increasingly shaky below us is not entirely Warburton's fault but it is difficult to see what long term plan the owners have.

As someone else pointed out we had not one but two cracks at the big time and completely fouled up on both occasions.

I wonder how much the lack of fans at games impacts on the manager. Had we witnessed some of the recent performances at home live, there would have been chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” to the manager. This happened a lot to Chris Ramsey and surely impacted on him in some way, particularly if the owners/board were at the game. Warbs is able to bumble along without tangible, immediate, fans’ criticism. This is a great pity as I reckon the combined voice of 12,000 people shouting that you’re wrong might make you (and your employer and colleagues) sit back and think.

My view has always been that we are a decent second tier club - certainly not top flight

Whilst enjoying the two promotions, the aftermath of each was incredibly painful at the time and has proved to be a depressingly long lived hangover

All I want is to stay in this division, play some attractive football and enjoy some (winning) days out both at home and when I travel away

I don't really care about promotion but relegation worries me because of the potential long term impact

We've always been a club that can find a youngster, give them opportunities and try to help them reach the next level. We are not a prawn sandwich club where we spend millions, we tried that and came unstuck and have gone back (at least tried / trying to) return to the old days. However, for me with player development it is also about how they can fit into different formations during various times of any game.
I think to describe where we are at present, is like some trying to complete a jigsaw puzzle of a building however you have only got the pieces for a battleship.
I do wonder whether BOS needs to be rested and shown where old colleagues like Manning and Freeman are these days......pretty sure someone can post a picture of a bench. I think his indecision is affecting the whole club.
Also, regarding Pearson - no one wanted Colin...however he was very good for us.

I agree about the lack of ambition, but that hasn't got much to do with Warburton. We showed that when games started again last season after the lockdown when from a position where we could have challenged for a play-off place, we let team captain Hall go as well as Pugh a 1st team regular. I heard we had no Keeper trainer in place either for those lock down games. Cost saving prudency from above, Hoos I expect, rather than having a go for PL riches.surely. The lack of resources to properly replace the players who left last season, or of course our failure to stay in the PL, has little to do with Warburton, but everything to do with the Hoos trying to keep us sustainable financially, and the current Owners who probably don't want or can not inject more funds into the Club.

The problem with the Prem/ Championship set up now, is that it's fine for a few clubs that can yo-yo between the divisions, like West Brom, Bournmouth and Norwich. Parachute payments pretty much prevent other clubs from breaking into the cosy arrangement and we lose the chance to dream...
