He should have the decency to pull the plug and not wait to get sacked with a nice payoff. who next? I don’t know. But Warburton has to go. He has only taken the club backwards.
Backwards? We ended 13th last season which I think was about 5 places above where we were for a few seasons before he arrived. I dont think we should sack Warburton, but if we possibly can we should bring in some new players, especially a few that can make and score score goals. Dykes and Bonne aren't up to it.
I've defended him on a few match threads calling for patience. Much harder to do that after that result. Still sceptical a change in manager will have a huge impact - there are big issues at the club beyond the first team manager's control - but also hard to see how it will make things any worse. A shame as I was hopeful Warburton would be in post for a good few years after a season last year that was broadly successful.
Yes, we did finish 5 places higher last season than the season before but the way this season is going we are going to be in a relegation fight and the way things are going I wouldn't wager much on us staying up. We have 1 point per game, that is relegation material.
Since Colin was sacked we have had 12 managers of various guises in 8 years, changing the manager has worked wonders, I feel a few people need reminding we are a mid table selling championship club, who completely cocked up the the chance to play in the big league, we are in for a few more years of pain
Danny Cowley for me. I know it didn't work out for him (and his brother who comes with him) at Huddersfield but their track record elsewhere is extremely impressive.
I blame the owners more than those managers to be honest. I still will never understand the signing of Cesar when we already had Green on 50k a week.
Mid table? We are relegation fodder, and 99%of clubs are selling clubs, I wouldn't mind if we got a fair deal from the sale but that never happens,we get shafted everytime we find and sell a decent player.. I've supported this club since the late 60s and seen real decent teams, seen great, bad and awful teams but at this moment in time there hasn't been a morsel of feel good times since God knows when.. the stats don't lie MW tenure so far has taken us backwards.the argument that changing managers don't work is a strange one,I would agree if it was like Watfords policy but MW has been at QPR for best part of two years and there has been zero progress..that can't carry on as we will soon be in Div 1
Agreed. To maintain the progress from last season we should have been at least a fringe playoff place contender, not relegation fodder which we are.
The worrying thing is that Warburton is being out coached by virtually every other championship coach.
He certainly won't resign - why give up a pay off if you don't know how long it will be before you get back into employment? But I do think the Board needs to make a change in the New Year if we fail to pick up any points over the festive period The slump that we're in is alarming. Much as L1 would allow me to see the Rs at a couple of new grounds, the danger of relegation is that it becomes many seasons before we get back up - Sunderland, Portsmouth.... And I don't want to have to be putting money into collection buckets again....
I’d only want the former Pistols drummer if Johnny comes as conditioning, tactics and motivational lead.
Very difficult to maintain that progress on our budget and losing all 3 of our goalscorers from last season. Anyone we signed was going to be a gamble and thus far they aren't yet paying off.
Re sign Is his contact nearly up Maybe we could let him leave on a free Has any managers contract ever expired and a new one come in S
