Looking forward to the Long Walk Hurdle.
Shame Thistlecrack is out, although at 12 I could not see him winning. Thyme Hill at Chelters one of my best bets and was very unlucky, typical for me, and then I deserted him for Paisley Park lto and guess what? 3lb better off today Paisley Park can turn it around perhaps but Thyme Hill has a bit more improvement you would think. Main Fact has the ground in his favour as it is raining overnight and this morning.
I will go for Thyme Hill at the moment but if it rains all morning I will desert to Main Fact.

An absolute disaster last week. Let's see how we get on today, again a quick skim of the form, looking for a bit of value with a bit of bias towards lowly weighted horses because of the ground in the extra placed races on Hills. Threw in Main Fact in the Long Walk, the top 2 are very short.

    12pm Newc, Billy Bathgate 15/2
    12:40pm Ascot, Freddy Fantapan 17/2
1:50pm Ascot, Megli Khan 8/1 (very interesting he has gone to Nicky Henderson, was a fair bit of hype around him when younger)
    2:25pm Ascot, Main Fact 15/2
3:35pm Ascot, Belfast Banter 17/2 (possibly another Irish raider out for a 'coup')
    4pm Wolv, Stoney Lane 11/2
    430pm Wolv, Oliver's Pursuit 4/1 (Some C&D form)

Tiny stakes e/w Super Heinz to pass the day

Was looking forward to seeing The Jam Man in the Long Walk, Thistlecrack out doesn't help matters either. Ah well.

Oooof just got back from about 17 tons of food shopping (trying to get plenty of food and drink in before Christmas - well you do, don't you?)

Not a day of racing that really gets my juices flowing - Ascot already looked testing yesterday, will probably be like the Somme today. Nevertheless I think the Long Walk Hurdle does offer a betting opportunity in the shape of Dan Skelton's super-tough mare Roksana. Her Weatherby victory over Next Destination (future superstar IMHO) reads very well and I think the 7lbs allowance she gets from the geldings could just make the difference at the business end. I think Thyme Hill will win the World Hurdle but I just suspect both he and Paisley Park had a tough race last time at Newbury and perhaps Roksana might just be that little bit fresher today.

I thought he was very disappointing last time and am hoping it is just the yard form which is not great at the moment (despite a couple of wins on the all-weather). I've gone for the Irish raider Belfast Banter in that race.

Well, food tonnage small at the moment, Oddy, as there might be just the two of us at home over Christmas? However, I've got almost a dozen bags of Snyder's of Hannover Jalapeño Chili Pretzel Bits, so I'm in good shape! Man do I love these! :emoticon-0125-mmm: :bandit:

(Also 10/10 with three or four beers - <cheers>)

If Henderson can get Mengli Khan to win this off 150 he certainly has got something from the magic fridge. Saint De Vassy for me.
