Cardiff lose tonight and there will be one taxi waiting for Harris and the same one could pick up an incoming Bilic at Cardiff General.

Interesting article on the BBC website which included this: . "The atmosphere in the dressing room, it is said, is better than anything that existed in the past few years of Pochettino's time in charge, apart from the three week build-up to the Champions League final in 2019."

The article claims 'numerous sources at the club'
If that is true it throws an interesting light on the Pochettino years which from the outside looking in looked quite different. So are we to believe that there was a poor atmosphere in the Pochettino dressing room apart from the 3 week run up to the CL final?

Calvert-Lewin has as many goals as Arsenal and isn't nominated. Kane isn't either, despite having 9 goals and 10 assists.
Mane has 4 goals and 1 assist. What the **** is he doing in there? Vardy: 10 goals, 4 assists. Nope.

It's funny how the current manager is always better than his predecessor...until he's sacked and the next one is better again.

That said, from the summer when we failed in the transfer market after finishing second with 86 points, there was a steady decline across the board. I don't think that book helped at all and after we thumped Everton away, it's difficult to recall 2 consecutive good performances. By the time he was sacked, we were bloody awful in most matches, the CL run apart.

Whatever Poch brought in his first 3 years, had long gone in the last two. The performances don't lie.

    No problemo...

It's easy to forget the nightmare that was Wembley in his decline and fall. After we lost to Juve, that place was a graveyard. It dragged everything down even further...especially when the press started weighing into the stadium delays. Given that Lewis and Levy don't shoulder any media burden and our PR Dept. is a joke, Poch was left to deal with the fallout on his own and it must have really got to him as he became a proper sulky bastard in press conferences.

Eventually, he had to go but he did a lot of good beforehand and Levy and Lewis owe him big time. If I divide our managers into good and bad, he's in the former camp...easily.

The thing with Poch is he knew the team couldn't control games in midfield due to the decline of the players who had made that possible, hence he implemented the Air Raid tactics to try and get us over the line before addressing this the following summer

The problem was he went too far in addressing it, hence the implementation of THAT BASTARD DIAMOND which was supposed to give us so much more control of midfield...but what that actually did was leave our flanks exposed while also making our buildup play easier to predict by having Winks and the FBs the only available out balls, meaning that all the opponents needed to do was put pressure on Winks and that removed our ability to build up quickly from the back and things very quickly unraveled

At the risk of playing "What If...?", imagine if we signed Ndombele, Lo Celso and Hojbjerg that summer. While things would've been tricky in the early going, considering we'd be looking to bed in an entire midfield engine room simultaneously (in other words, Winks and Sissoko would have been dropping in and out of the team as and when) the odds are Poch would've been braver than he was last season, which in turn would have led to less reactive team selections when things were going wrong
