I don't like him as much as Hughton and there is still something there which I can't fully accept him, but he is doing a really good job and over all I'm pretty happy!

I think it's too early too give a full verdict. But so far I think he's been excellent (from mid last season to the beginning of this season) he's signings seem to be good and he's a good tactic man. But I don't think he's the best man-manager, unlike Hughtoun.

But like I said so far he's been excellent :cheesy:

Personally I think he has done a great job and I'd like to have some managerial stability at our club so I'd be happy for him to manage us for a while. There was a thread the other day (possibly yesterday) which explained how he manages his players and how he prepares the for games and from that I was very impressed with his style. Also he seems an honest guy and he says the right things in the press. He seems to get the best out of his players and the current squad seems happy to play for him. He seems to have created a decent working relationship with our owner and board which others have failed to do in the past. I believe Pardew can take this club forwards.

It's obviously a fine start to the season but having been a Toon fan for more years than I care to recall, i'm not getting carried away.

I will make my decision about Pardew once the last ball of this season has been kicked...<ok>

This. If we go on a bad run and finish outside the top 10 we will probably want him out haha

Too early for me. There was not really an option for me. I'd say too early to judge but we'll see in 3 years time. I'm old fashioned and believe that is the minimum to make a proper judgement. Unless they are blatantly wrong for a club or just crap (Sam Allerdyce/Souness/Gullit) then I believe in giving time. I don't think Pards is either so he should get time to build something.

How come several of the team have said he is the best man-manager they've ever worked with?

Atm, I'd say the top one, but if he ever plays Shola again, it'll be the bottom one...

For me it's a little too early to judge, he's doing ok, apart from some seriously questionable substitutions. I do think he had a bit of a reality check during the last transfer window, but if he has the full support of Ashley and no silly interference, then hopefully we'll do ok.

He's starting to win me over, but I want to see how he does with a full season.

Not much choice between I want him to stay for years to I'd prefer another manager... :/

He's done a good job but he still needs to prove himself in some aspects.

He's a good man manager and that's important. Other than that what can he do given all managers are scapegoats for the board.

No way am I going to say I want him to be here for years after 7 games of a season when we haven't played anyone with any relevant class. That's just silly.

The bloke proved on Saturday in the second half that he can be tactically inept on occasions but so far he's done well. No way do I want him here for years just yet.

He's being allowed to spearhead a 5-year project by Mike Ashley so it would be stupid not to keep him, seeing how fast the results have been

Unless someone like Mourinho wanted the job I'd say he's our man

the main advantage with Pardew is the length of contract he's been given. Though he's an average manager and his sub choices are generally poor, we all know what we'd prefer, given a choice between a middling but capable manager for 4 more years or a string of big names hired then booted every 6 months. That way relegation lies...

Besides, it seems he's gelled well with the backroom staff, and as long as we have Carr picking up gems on the cheap for him I'd be content with Pards for another few years at least.

We need stability so although I think its too early to judge this season chopping and changing will just upset the balance we have at the minute. If he continues to improve as he has done I can see him being very successful here.

As stated, stability is important. Couple of dodgy decisions but on balance you cant argue with our position. Still a bad taste in my mouth about Hughton, but thats not his fault. Overall yeah I guess I like him, time will tell.

I think that he is doing a great job under very difficult circumstances. He handled the situation very well when he took over from CH, quickly winning over the support of the players. Keeping everything from boiling over this summer with all the problems regarding Nolan, Barton, Jose, the visa fiascos and the board not bringing in a no.9, must have been like trying to juggle with jelly. But he seems to have kept the spirit in the squad high and intergrated the new lads well.

We were not going to attract the very top managers to SJP to replace CH, but Pardew has done as well as anyone could reasonably expect. The time to judge him will be at the end of this season, but everything seems to be going in the right direction.
