conpletely agree - and to an extent I think we’ve been victim of this all happening at too short notice for proper conversations to take place. It’s obvious the EFL need to have clearer rules mind.
Positives for me - think Sanderson and Diamond both looked great. And I loved the proactive half time change by LJ. think we are in good hands with him, it’s just going to take a while.
Spot on, the EFL should be held to account for their response to covid in football. They are a governing body and as such have a responsibility for the welfare and safety of everyone involved.
Diamond is a real throwback type of player for me. Likes to beat a man, wants the ball and wants to get it in the box early. I thought his cross for the goal was cracking.
Our best player tonight by a mile. I also like the look of Sanderson, another one who always wants the ball. Both still very raw, but the potential is there.
As a one off covid ruined game I'm not too disappointed personally. Preparations ruined, cobbled together team and some of our worst squad players on the pitch. So no real surprise. However, if thats the team for another 3 games then I'm really starting to think automatic is going to be a difficult task.
And Power !!! and I never thought I would say that, but the other miss was McGeady, all three were up there with Diamond at Lincoln, I know this was a different game but considering the circumstances a draw was, as you say acceptable in the end.
There's some serious bed wetting going on tonight. 5 of the first 11 out and a subs bench made of kids who only played yesterday, give them a break ffs
well i just seen another 'report' stating had we called it off (because wimbledon had already travelled up) we would likely be hit with sanctions or even them granted a win...they (the EFL) were just unsure as to exactly what we would be hit with. either way, where this virus is concerned surely 'safety first' should be the mantra...call them off for the safety of players and staff and worry about fixtures later, even if it means adding a week or so to the season.
Not tooi distraught over tonights display. Wimbledon imo should have won, missed couple of chances in 2nd half. Mind Im not saying they were better than us. I honestly thought irrespective of excuses re covid etc we had enough to beat them. Having said that without King Charles and with weak ****e Grigg and Crap O'brien up front I did wonder where our goals would come from Still plenty to play for.
at what cost though? i always understood if a certain number of players were not available to play (during internationals for example) then we could cancel a game...it is a bit daft to say 'well you can call it off if you want but you might get hit with big sanctions or points reductions, maybe not get the chance to play the game at a later date and we gift your opponents the points'...needs to be, in fact SHOULD be, a set of protocols in place as it is not like it has just happened, there has been almost a year of this.
I hear you. But safety first means safety first. At any cost. We can’t be safety first (but only if we don’t get docked points). That would make us points first, safety second. so we really can’t preach the safety first point. If we wanted to put safety first the game would have been off
