Derby County v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Pride Park Date - 16 December 2020 Kick off - 17.30 Following their outstanding performance and victory away at Cardiff, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is an away match against struggling Derby. On Saturday, Jamal Lowe etched himself into Swansea City folklore as the striker's brace earned his side a well deserved victory in their South Wales derby clash with Cardiff City. The forward struck his third goal of the campaign early on to put Swansea into the lead at Cardiff City Stadium. Neil Harris' side struggled to get a foothold in the game and were reduced to 10 men in the second half as Joe Ralls was red carded. Lowe then doubled his tally for the afternoon with a stunning solo effort as Swansea dominated. As a consequence, the Swans moved into 3rd place. Later that afternoon, Derby County missed the chance to move out of the Championship's bottom three as they played out a goalless draw with Stoke City. Morgan Whittaker could have given the Rams the lead in the first half but saw his deflected shot saved by Stoke goalkeeper Josef Bursik. Derby went close again after the break when Matt Clarke fired across the face of goal following Martyn Waghorn's free-kick. A fine performance from Bursik helped Stoke secure a point as he made a good save to deny Clarke's dangerous close-range header late on. The result meant that Derby remained in 22nd place in the Championship table. The Swans have played the Rams on 44 previous occasions, winning 19, losing 17 with 8 matches drawn. In the corresponding fixture at Pride Park last season the teams played out a 0-0 draw, with Derby winning the reverse fixture at the Liberty 3-2: Turning to Wednesday, Derby have yet to record a win under Wayne Rooney - and we have an unwelcome habit of giving opposing teams a ‘first’ such as Stoke winning their first match of last season. Additionally, I am concerned that after last Saturday’s huge high, that the players may not be up for it. Hopefully, Cooper will guard against any lack of focus and ensure that we are on our game, so to speak. I’m hoping that the Swans will win 2-1 but I wouldn’t be surprised that the match ends as a 1–1 draw
Totally agree. They could be more desperate for the fight than us. Saying that, I fancy Jamal to score again. 0 - 1 Swans.
Hope we win but if they rest on the cdiff win it'll be tough ? Unless give 100% I see a 1-0 loss. So I'm going 3-1 to us anyway
Should have called him a C, it would have been worth the fine then. Anyway into Wednesdays game, no changes please Mr Cooper, only one I might do is Palmer for Fulton, back line needs to stay the same. It’s going to be another tight game where a result needs to be ground out. So going with a 0-1 Swans win.
I think that last Saturdays’s midfield worked really well in giving us control - so I’d stick with those 3 away on Wednesday
Same here , they weren’t over worked to be honest, letting the ball do the work so same again unless some are carrying knocks
Thanks Taff.....as long as we turn up to play and not just turn up ala Borough we can win this one quite easily. Yes we always seem to end other teams unenviable records but maybe just maybe we will do the business again. Two nil swans....
The Swansea Way seems to be do well in tough games and struggle with the Banana Skin games. At least there are no ex Swans there?
Would love another 3 points on the road but will be pleased with a point on Wednesday. After Saturday I think we may see a repeat of our goal scoring issues (hope I am wrong). So it's 0-0 for me.
Many thanks for the excellent foreword again Taff. Jamal to bang in another brace. Dec prediction for this one (to make it 3/5)... DER 1-2 SWA. #COYFJBs
Derby not lost in last 5 games. .............. D.D.W.D.D. Could we make it 5 draws, or break their run by winning?
Wycombe, Coventry, Millwall, Brentford, Stoke. In 5 games GF3 GA2. A low scoring game on the cards then?
