Fury would win. That Wilder fight. Wilder is a world class fighter, Fury was actually smiling in his face. His confidence was ridiculous. Unfortunately though, the fight probably won't ever happen.
Wilders a big bum dosser. He is pretty ****. Definitely not world class, just has a strong right hand which has saved him from more than a few hidings.
I’m not an expert in the art of pugilism so I may be wrong. Are the fighters told to defend themselves at all times? If so should the ref not have stopped the fight when Pulev turned his back & walked away in the 3rd(?). I’ve seen very brief highlights on the Sky App so may be editing tricks but Joshua did appear to crack Pulev’s when his back was turned.
Wilder was shown to be anything but world class, he's an extremely poor boxer with just a extremely powerful punch which is what has saved him a number of times when losing. He's dodged anyone who is remotely good and only took fury because he thought it would be easy with where they was/had been health wise. Look at the fighters he's fought and their rankings etc. As you say though and I agree... unfortunately it probably won't happen, the business will get in the way of the show as was nicely said by Mr Nelson last night
After wilder fury 2 most people immediately installed fury as huge favourite against Joshua. If I had to put money on anyone it would be fury on points based on the fact he’s so awkward and his foot movement is the best in the division by a long stretch. Some people have short memories though. Fury’s really not the slick operator people keep giving him credit for. His biggest strength is he’s so ungainly and unorthodox that people don’t know what to do with him. Look at the Klitschko fight. It was dour, but he completely flummoxed him to the point he just looked confused. On the other side people don’t give Joshua enough credit for the boxing skills he possesses. You don’t win an Olympic gold medal if you can’t box. He’s got magnificent KO power, but he can most certainly be hurt. There’s also big questions about his engine for me, Fury is a much naturally fitter man. Which sounds mad when you look at them both. Either way we’re in for a couple of great fights I think. I can’t ****ing wait!!
Yeah. Technically the ref should have stepped in and called it off the moment he turned his back and started walking away. The fact the ref didn’t was the reason I assumed AJ had another few digs.
Agree completely re wilder. His fundamentals are terrible. Skill wise he’s probably struggling to be in the top 50 heavyweights. However he’s got freakish power. Most probably the hardest hitting heavyweight of all time.
As far as boxing skills go Fury is way ahead of anyone in the heavyweight division at the moment. AJ has definitely improved his ring skills but he is simply not got enough technically wise to take Fury 12 rounds and win. Always a chance of an AJ knock out win especially in the first 6/7 rounds but the longer any clash would go between these two the more you have to fancy Fury
This is quite a popular opinion but I couldn’t disagree more. I don’t see what fury has done to make people believe he’s such an accomplished boxer. Don’t get me wrong I still make him slight favourite but apart from two good performances against a massively limited wilder where has he showcased these boxing skills that are way above everyone else in the division? I’m not having a dig, boxing is a game of opinions maybe even more so than football, I just don’t see where he’s ever shown he’s far and above the rest?
In terms of opinions and interest this is exactly why this fight will probably break all box office records.
If you turn your back the ref can stop the fight but it isn’t mandatory and it’s up to the refs to make a decision. At the time I thought he should of stopped it and I don’t think many would of disagreed however the ref ended up being right as the fight went another 6 rounds. There are times when you turn your back to reposition. It’s not recommended but does happen. Also it can happen if your feet are not set properly. Lewis did it against Briggs as an example.
It’s a judgement call from the ref but as a general rule of thumb when you’re taking punishment and turn your back to said punishment the ref ends the fight.
I said earlier he beat Klitschko because he was so awkward and unorthodox. There was no sparkling display of boxing skills, it’s was the most turgid thing I’ve ever seen. It worked though so fair play.
Let’s face it the Heavyweight division is almost devoid of any real boxing talent these days. Looks like Joshua might be facing Usyk next if this report is true. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...O-chief-suggests-AJ-fight-Oleksandr-Usyk.html
I thought Joshua was very slick last night and just played with Pulev. His punch variation was excellent. Tough call on Fury or Joshua - I think either could win - depends who turns up with their A game.
