I do like BENATAR in the Caspian Caviar (which I have actually had a couple of time’s- not too bad) howver I am a big fan of this horse. He has a touch of class about him and definitely has a the ability to take a big handicap. Runs off a mark of 142 which on his old form makes him very well treated. He has been off for two years, Altho he did go for a racecourse gallops” which wasnt to bad, interesting he didn’t take his place in the Ladbroke but that gallop would have taken the freshness out of him, but does go well first time out, aslong as he can settle. I see there has been abit of money for him, which coming from this yard is very positive and hoping it’s abit of a shrewd move and currently best priced 20/1 with some bookies going 6 places. Imo is a decent bet which should start off a very good day for the Moore’s!

And also Master Tommytucker I do like too!

Which leads me on to the next - For me GOSHEN wins tomorow. The rest of the field are 150 rated. Sceau royale rated 158. No horse can ran to a mark of 160. Goshen only horse that has the potential to run to that ! His flat runs I wouldn’t worry about. Some horses don’t perform on the flat. Eg Sharjah second in the champion hurdle and actually ran probably even worst on the flat. But those runs weren’t gimmes and his Goodwood run wasn’t too bad! The triumph form is holding up. With aspire tower and and AllManKind winning. He’s the Only horse of out of this lot who could be a geniune CH horse. Don’t forget his Triumph run was nearly an absolutely spectacular. He’s getting 6lbs too. He’s definitely the one to beat, and until he does i shallnt be deserting him!

I do hope Goshen wins in style today after him being my hype horse at Chelters last March.
A friend of mine claims to know the owner or trainer and told me they could not get the horse quite right his two flat runs, not sure why they ran him then If that was the case. Trainer reckons he is good today.
I may desert him being a 4yo v seasoned pros and go with Silver Streak.
I will try Al Dancer who is being backed in this morning.

Nice renewal of the RFKATBH today (Race Formerly Known As The Bula Hurdle) today and this looks a genuine Grade 2 heat with depth. Here my thoughts on each of the runners:

    1. Ballyandy - goes really well on juicy ground and round here as evidenced by his 2nd in the Greatwood off top weight. Massive player and seriously overpriced.

    2. Call Me Lord - second again in the Ascot hurdle but I cannot see him reversing form with Song For Someone. I predict a staying-on 4th or 5th.

    3. Sceau Royal - previous winner (albeit on quicker ground) and my old favourite. I just think the ground has gone against him this time and that tends to blunt his turn of foot.

    4. Song For Someone - looks to be in the form of his life after romping to success in the Ascot Hurdle and could be the one to take advantage if Goshen isn't the next reincarnation of Pegasus

    5. Summerville Boy - beat a number of today's rivals fair and square at Aintree and his proven stamina should see him come up the hill full of running. Another big player who looks overpriced in the market.

    6. Silver Streak - despite having run respectably in the last 2 Champion Hurdles I don't think Cheltenham is his track - he has never won here and was beaten by Brain Power in this 2 years ago. Trainer also admits the ground has probably gone against him.

    7. Ch'tibello - a horse I have strangely never warmed to - more my fault than his, I'm sure. He will run his race but likely to find a few too good.

    8. Goshen - great to see him back on the track finally, and probably the horse with the biggest "wow" factor this weekend. As Woolly said, last season's Triumph form is looking pretty decent and he ought to have won that race in a hack canter. I hope he really is a superstar but there is no way I could back him at 7/4 for this - a price purely based on potential and not for me.

    9. Stormy Ireland - useful mare on her day and interesting that Nicholls sends her back over hurdles but the form of her Limestone Lad Hurdle win is nowhere near what is required here. Would need to improve massively to be involved at the business end.

    10. Verdana Blue - admirable mare who has looked short of her deadly turn of foot this season. Trainer thinks she needs to go up in trip and, much as his record in this race is respected, I can't see her taking this.

Summary: This should be a real treat with Goshen, Ballyandy and Summerville Boy all likely to force the pace with the closers looking for a tow into it coming down the hill. I was really impressed with Song For Someone's victory at Ascot and the only slight concern is whether the track will suit. But at 5/1 I am prepared to take the chance that he will handle the undulations of Prestbury Park and can get his head in front on the line.

    Morning all..bets today:

Cheltenham 1.50pm Windsor Avenue 9/1 each way 5 places. Was impressed with his first run this season behind graded winner imperial aura. 2nd run after his wind op..

Doncaster 3.15pm Singlefarmpayment 13/2 each way. Has to be one of my favourite horses in training, is well handicapped on old form and stable are in good form. Really fancy him today..

    Good luck all!:emoticon-0167-beer:

Yeah, I’m not remotely bothered about Goshen’s poor flat form, and I don’t expect him to unseat his rider either. I was expecting a bigger weight allowance as a 4 year old though.

His price frames the market nicely for something else though, and I’ll be having a modest few Bob on Ch’tibello e/w

Took a quick skim and in general went for horses with decent course/distance form in all the extra place races on Hills. Tiny stakes e/w Heinz with my price taken for interest.

Some competitive races to stay in and watch whilst it pours outside!

Am hoping Master Tommytucker’s jumping holds up and he can lead them all the way in Caspian but will have a little Each way saver on Militarian with the 6 places on offer at 50-1 with an ok 5th over C&D in his form and on his previous winning mark.

Will also follow one of my cliff horses The Bay Birch in the last hoping she isn’t put off by the smaller obstacles!

I just watched the replay of the novice chase at Cheltenham and (even though it is still early days) I can't see any of that lot troubling the judge come March. Bunch of slow boats by the look of them. Already looking forward to Shishkin vs. Allmankind vs. whatever the Irish send over - should be a vintage Arkle and hopefully they will all get there <ok>
