At its annual conference, Labour passed a broad proposal for its future migration policy.

The motion said Labour will include manifesto pledges to, among other things, “maintain and extend free movement rights”, “close all detention centres” and to “reject any immigration system based on incomes, migrants’ utility to business, and number caps/targets

The Telegraph’s article online didn’t contain the word “all” in the headline and copy. The headline online reads : “Labour to scrap controls on immigration and hand foreign nationals the right to vote.”

 

So nothing on giving foreign nationals the right to vote?

Nothing on scrapping visas?

They just want to scrap the ridiculous rule that bans a couple from living together in the UK if they don't hit an income threshold, whether one of them is British or not, for example.

 

Closing all detention centres for illegals has a ring of Amnesty for illegal immigrants about it.

This is all hypothetical because Labour don't have the power to change the laws on voting restrictions for illegals and foreign Nationals .

I'm sure you would support such a law though ?

For example a young man from Chad washes up in Dover , processed for refugee status.

Fails and gets put into a detention centre until they figure out who he is and what to do with him.

Should he be allowed to stay as a UK resident and vote in our elections ?

 

No. And I've never advocated that. Where have I ever said that illegal immigrants should be given UK nationality and given the right to vote in the UK?

 

So after the refugee status claim has failed they should be deported?

 

Yes. Same if someone commits a crime here and has no claim to reside here. I've never claimed the opposite.

The German cruise liner confiscated by Britain stopped sending West Indians here in 1971 .

Some of those rapists and murderers were just children born to foreign Nationals as babies or small kids then brought here without British citizenship , they could have legally taken residence here but didn't bother before going on crime sprees.

The argument being they were too young to remember life in Jamaica, if they were born here then they are our problem.
