I see that as a positive, mainly because I just can't believe that there would still be a deal to be done regarding the share structure. To me,that would have been one of the most important things to be agreed at the outset. The fact that Smith is confirming pretty much what we think is happening, but is trying to run a story as to what he speculates could be the reason for a delay in confirmation,is a good sign. He's a journalist.....he needs content....and at the minute he doesn't have any, hence speculation prompting people to have a read. It may simply be that an announcement of the deal is waiting for those involved to be able to schedule their busy, international lives......Covid-affected,these days,....to be able to all get themselves to the SOL at the same time.
Quiet day so may as well throw up a link to the original article https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...nd-january-window-go-under-microscope-3063717
All Phil Smith is creating news, about speculation which is more speculative in this case Column inches l would call it
It would appear after some parts of the jigsaw were put into place last week and the ownership choice of head coach who had the audacious nerve to field a winning team and worse score 2 fxxking goals SD &CM wanted a bigger split in the share % due to this The doubting crowd are up in arms as this has been tweeted by non other than somebody called Nixon of Watergate fame and has caused a tidal wave off the coast of Japan About sum it up
Yep,Nixon and Smith trying to justify their existence saying basically nothing, and....apart from a reassuring word (literally!) from Prehab......who I really trust.....our itks have gone quiet. I'm hoping pending announcement.
Watched Johnson press conference live on Twitter for couple minutes before it died, claimed he knew nothing of takeover.
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/s...rnalist-delivers-sunderland-takeover-verdict/ Think that was the same site with the SpD exclusive, although it's just quotes from Phil Smith
I’m not in the know so please take this with large pinch of salt but a lad text me today who is connected to an ex player and said that he’s been told Johnson is fuming as was brought in on the promise from Donald the french lad was coming in and it was a done deal. Apparently the deal has hit a snag and he’s been told there’s a chance won’t be able to bring in any players in Jan if doesn’t go through. Probably rubbish but i’ve shared it.
Johnson said in his press conference today that when he's referred to talking with the "ownership group" - it's just been Stewart Donald he's spoken to, as he is majority shareholder and they had a 2 hour conversation before he was appointed. He says he hopes to get to speak to Sartori soon. He also says in the same interview that in January he will be mostly looking at U23s as we are at our limit from a wage cap perspective.
What that says to me is that Donald is on the same page as the new owners, indeed is acting as their representative in talking to Johnson prior to completion of the deal. Those who think there is hostility in this, with Donald being difficult and holding out for more, may be wrong.
