It sounds to me that Millwall have said they won't be taking the knee but players have made their own judgements and will continue to do so

Who said it was right? You have. And have again here. You want the players to be winners and to have a free will ( I doubt they all feel that ..) to continue to support BLM by kneeling.

This thread is months old and it highlights how it was arrogant/ignorant/naive for football to think that the synergy between Black Lives Matter and the statement ‘"black lives matter" would not create division, rather than unity.

So instead of a booing kneeling pissing contest. Change the narrative. Remove the left wing politics.

Spot on AN16. Who's said they are taking it of their own free will? I'd say a lot were just taking it through fear of reprisals. "Taking the knee" - FFS let's move on! It's been done to death.

Everyone is aware of the initial significance when first agreed upon, but there must come a time (like now!) when the message has been conveyed to its' limits. It's outweighed it's usefullness and now just promotes the politcal message rather than racial equality.

I've no time at all for racism but am seriously concerned this action is becoming exploited. Those in power within the game are seriously **** scared of upsetting the movement by calling a halt and being accused of some form of racsist action in doing so. Time to "kick it out" - and that includes "the knee".

The players will be wearing rainbow shorts for LBGT and also curtsy for women's rights and maybe even Baaaaaa to support the Welsh group (if there is one)..
The point's been made I wish we could now stop all this nonsense and get on with just playing football..

Don't believe Sly Sports, they have invested a lot of money into the BLM and don't want anyone to question that. Now Millwall have upset the apple cart they are spreading false stories to confuse players into kneeling and provoking a boo from the crowd.
Just to be clear we support Anti racism campaigns by proper Anti Racist groups but anything under the BLM banner has no place at Millwall and hopefully in football once crowds return everywhere.

    Free will?

As I said it is peer pressure and absolutely nothing to do with free will anymore.

It is impossible to believe that every single professional footballer is still comfortable with carrying on taking the knee at every single game, but who would be the first to break ranks? just imagine the **** that they would have to endure if they actually exercised their free will.

Its not every footballer and the Millwall players have the option to opt out given to them by the club. If they take the knee tonight then it will be their choice

The BBC did a knee jerk reaction, jumping on the band wagon … then were forced to retreat jump off as different approach's were forth coming
However "freedom of speech" won through as they took a deep breath looked at the wider picture and put it into context … BLM is not what it was intended to be, has been hi jacked by politically motivated organisations /people. The british people must be more than [ % wise] sick of it. Has led to criminality, spread of covid and a weakening of the resolve of a lot of people who are avid anti racialists. IT IS BECOMING A DIVIDING issue … you have Black lives who condemn it / oppose it and those that wish to glorify it. You cannot honestly say " we are not saying white lives [ or any others ] do not matter … really ! THEN EMBRACE HUMANITY AND SAY all lives matter …….
we will see tonight what happens at Millwall …..

NOT ENTIRELY some will not wish to offend their "mates" and do it anyway … 2020 has shown us with this and Covid HOW SELF CENTRED A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE .. a colleague/ friend/mate whatever you /I might call him [ age 23 ] has the opinion that lockdown and guidelines are correct and the way forward ...magic .. no he goes against sanity / all the rules when his mates encourage him to go pubbing... off for the weekend as a group 8 of them … etc etc then expects us to welcome him back into our group having exposed himself to allsorts of possible consequences …

If shared my view of sky at the moment I may be accused of wearing a tin foil hat ... sky tonight described “ The taking of the knee” as being “ A tradition”.

The way it's been done over the months in this country, can only assume its wanting power over the (white) majority as a protest ? I can't see who else it would be aimed at ?

What power from what blacks to control us?

    African Americans
    North Africans
    Caribbeans
    Arabs
    Bengalis
    Indians
    Pakistanis
    Mixed race

Who should we bow, curtsy or bend the knee too, who should we whites be subservient too, I'm confused.

Done deliberately to provoke a reaction from the few Millwall fans in the stadium.

This is interesting but is already being twisted as proof of racism.
