Bottas can point to being top dog again, even without a tow and a scruffy final lap. Russell can say he's right there in qualifying, with two days notice. Honours even, nicely set for the race.
I haven't voted last two weeks, I reckon Verstappen though. George's performance has really exposed Albon although I do still think RB are partly to blame.
Thinking about it IF Albon doesn't retain his seat for next year it brings Red Bulls young driver program into question. i.e. they had Gasly and Albon and neither can even be a no 2 to Max! Are they picking the wrong young drivers, is max so much better, or is the car designed so much round Max that no one else can drive it? I think they need to get Perez in the car. If he is close to Max then it proves it was drivers not up to the job, if not Perez should have some interesting comments to say about the car. Much as I like Albon and Gasly I think Perez would be good. Think you might be right with Max for the win though. Hope it's a good clean battle with no reliability issues.
Max beat Sainz in qualifying 10-9, though Carlos missed 3 qualifying sessions compared to Max's 1, and in races both finished in was 5-4. However in one of those races Carlos was told to move over so Max could attack the car in front, but on the last lap as he still hadn't got past RBR told him to swap, he refused (and is why I started to dislike him). Vettel, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Sainz show their young driver program is fine, they just didn't have the seats at the right time at RBR. When Vettel left it caused a problem which led a year later Sainz to Sainz leaving too, which is a shame as he'd be in that seat and Albon and Gasly would be at Alpha Tauri doing their apprenticeships rather than having to do it under the spotlight.
Good points, thanks. Maybe it's just the management and the way they treat their drivers that causes pressure and distrust.
Urghh Benson is being particularly annoying this weekend referring to Russell as Hamiltons stand in instead of by name.. its not even national partisan.
