Evening all.. John Durkan looks an absolute cracker, Min - will be extremely hard to beat, Chris’s Dream - a horse I just can’t warm to at all, Allaho - (my idea of the RSA winner, and I hope they don’t go down the gold cup route) but hasn’t won on reappearance and looks to need a run. Battleoverdoyen- my selection in the race 13/2 ew has had the benefit of the run and maybe the most ready for tomorrow, Altho interesting Jack has chosen Samcro. Samcro and Melon - I do feel if you back one you have to back both, Samcro has a lot to prove again after his run a few weeks ago and Melon just seems to turn up at the festival and also I did read that they do potentially see him as a gold cup horse too! Le Richebourg good to see him back but will need the run you think and the OBrien yard is in poor form, Tornado Flyer just has no chance. Altho I think Min is the likeliest winner, I have sat on the fence and gone with the safest option In BATTLEOVERDOYEN . Who with the run behind him will be fit for the race and very hard to see him out the places. However long term, Allaho may be the best horse out of these come the end of the season (depends which route they go down)
Some Sunday avoiders Punch 110 Finest Evermore - anticipating an eyecathing run here, have taken 17-1 about her in the Mares Novice at Chelters 140 Samcro, hoping. Cork 125 Chacun Pour Soi Kelso 245 Mahlervous 320 Duc De Grissay Good luck all
Lovely to see the mares novice hurdle named after the wonderful Volar La Vedette at Punchestown - who can forget her tussle with Big Buck's up the Cheltenham hill in the 2012 World Hurdle as Ruby Walsh and Andrew Lynch tried to outwit each other. In the end Big Buck's outgunned her (as he did every other horse in that remarkable 18-race winning streak after unseating Sam Thomas in the Hennessy). Here's a video of the race:
The John Durkan is an absolute belter today and well done to ITV for showing the race on free-TV. Min has been an absolute superstar for the yard and would surely have been a much more prolific winner had Altior not been around. This 2m4f trip has looked his best for a couple of years now though and, being still only 9, he will take all the beating. The top 2 on the card both ran in last season's RSA and I struggle to see them having the turn of foot to win this and, admirable though Chris's Dream is, he has been found out at the very top table - a comment which equally applies to Melon. Tornado Flyer really needs to kick-start his career after disappointing last season and is probably running for prize money. The one that really interests me though is Le Richebourg - more for the future than as a betting prospect today, for he has a long lay-off to overcome. The talented Network gelding has only found Delta Work too good over fences and hopefully he can put in a decent round here to re-ignite his career.
Hi all, 2 bets for me today: Kelso 2.45pm Elf de re 4/1 win Kelso 3.20pm One of us 11/1 each way 4 places. Nick Williams making some journey up with this one.. Good luck all..
Just the ITV 7 for me today. Plus 10p e/w doubles and 10p e'w acca. Battleoverdoyen Sargent Lightfoot Ragnar Lodbrok Mahlervous Conright Boy Bob Mahler Supreme Jet
Bookies taking the piss mate I do think he has slightly more natural ability that Politologue though - if both turn up 100% at Cheltenham it would be some race (especially if Henderson doesn't pull Altior due to low sun). I think Chacun will come on a ton for that and you'll see a different horse at Christmas.
