Well said mate Unfortunately from what I'm reading on here today He's the worst possible choice Definitely a SD appointment (even though his last appointment was Parkinson ????) Nothings changed (even though looks like the clubs structure is being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century) And he hasn't even arrived yet. He may turn to ****e who knows But I'm quite excited about the club taking a complete new direction and structure. Hopefully the takeover is announced soon and we can find out what the full plans are.
Interesting line in that: "If a super-talented player can enhance the team then you'll make those sacrifices. I’ve always remembered that." Could apply to Mcgeady that.
So basically Johnson was the one who was most happy to work in this new structure compared to the likes of Poyet & Cowley?
In 10 mins I've gone from "hope its the Cowley's" to fully convincing myself this guy is perfect appointment. We now have an attacking manager, with McGeady returning and the likes of Diamond to start running at people. More chances for Grigg. I now actually hope it comes off.
Guardiola raved about Bristol Citys football that night they played then in the cup when Johnson was in charge. Imagine if we start playing good attacking football each week?
Yep,and he knows this league and the one above we're trying to get into. Some of the other names mentioned do not have that and may have taken more time to get it right. Also,as you say, there seems to be a clear plan developed involving two very young..Johnson 39,Speakman 41...but not wet behind the ears lads at our level, who, presumably will be able to work very closely together and both be on the same page. They may even know each other. Johnson has also had some problems from Bristol fans in the past,so he knows what's involved when passions and feelings run high.
Spot on , the negativity is pathetic, must have been expecting Pochatinerr, at least he would undastaand
I’ve always thought that a half decent manager can get us up from this division easy. It’s a terrible division. If he can get us playing attacking football rather than this cautious play, we beat 95% of the teams in this league easily. Also look many points the other top teams are dropping. I believe he can get us up this season, and comfortably. Parkinson was horrifically bad. Even if Johnson is 10% better he gets us up.
I'm in. Other than Poyet, every other appointment was much of a muchness. Pearson would have been my choice but he wouldn't fit into the structure we are trying to create and would be a short term solution when we need long term development. Johnson plays high press attacking football which is something we have been craving for ages. High press attacking football is a winner in this league. Teams are, for the most part, **** on the ball, high aggressive press and you win the ball back and flood the final third which is something he would instill in this team. He also took over from Cotterill and immediately switched to a back 4 from a 5 which is again something we have been craving for a while. He's in, so I'll support him and see how he gets on. The other thing is, the structure, if it doesn't work, it's not a rip up the whole thing and start again, itll be a new manager in a continuation of what we are trying to achieve.
We were glad when we got rid of Poyet were we not? And now we wanted him back. It's all a matter of perspective.
