Cowleys wanted full control... Johnson will coach and pick the team in the structure...time will tell on this one...18 months let's see where we are..
He plays really good attacking football aswell. He has also made some really good signings while at Bristol City.
I’ll get behind him. Difficult to call it a bad appointment when he has managed the last good few years in the Championship and done relatively well. Also beat Man United. It’s an improvement on Parkinson. And not many League One clubs could attract a Championship level manager. Let’s hope we are pleasantly surprised.
I'd be happy with Johnson tbh. Saying he's had no promotions is harsh as he left Barnsley when they had a chance of going up. He was never likely to get Bristol promoted with one of the smallest budgets in the league, he did improve their league position 4 seasons in a row, with some good cup runs thrown in. His best players were always sold aswell. He's a big studier of the game, traveling all over the world, meeting talking to people. His style is one the fans would like, high energy, pressing, attacking football. Likes pace in his teams, so think he'll look to dabble in January. Theres plenty out there to read and watch, the more i see, the more i like the idea.
Exactly. It’s going to be a whole new structure with DoF etc so he may be the best fit for what the long term plan is. Let’s get behind the bloke eh?
It’s a manager who likes to play attacking football isn’t it? Chalk and cheese compared to Parkinson in that regard. Would have worked with Bailey Wright too I’m guessing at Bristol City?
We are a league 1 club, but we're also Sunderland AFC - and the more people think the position we are in is acceptable, the longer we'll languish in this division. ...and we're getting the piss ripped out of us by these two-bit jokers - quite frankly i'm sick of it. The absolute content they have SAFC supporters is ridiculous. What happened to clear lines of communication, "we are just the custodians of this club", "piss taking party stops here" and all that utter rubbish. They bought the club with its own money and think they are deserving of a profit when we've actually gone backwards under their ownership - they've also torn apart the fanbase and pushed away more support than they've gained.
And people can twist all they like but if the club are ademant it's a DoF type structure then many British managers will just say no.
Sunderland fans - "don't want Cowley's - sure they get results but its ugly football" Also Sunderland fans - "don't want Johnson - sure he plays nice football but he doesn't get results." I'm happy. Not over the moon. But happy. Time to come together lads.
