They registered, but you are right that they were low quality chances (between 0.2 and 0.3 v Bristol, and between 0.1 and 0.2 v Stoke). Those values imply that "the average striker" would likely have converted at most one out of the four, and certainly not all four. But before saying that illustrates how "clinical" Teemu is, note that the xG values of Emi's two goals in those same matches were in the same range (0.2--0.3). I don't think anyone would describe Emi as "a clinical finisher", so my question remains: What exactly is "a clinical finisher"?
I'm reminded of the art critic Ruskin's response to the titled lady who, attending an exhibition of paintings by Turner, described the artist's work as being in poor taste."Madam", replied Ruskin, "it is not Turner's taste that is in question".
So now statistics have been raised to the level of an art form. The 'beautiful game' is becoming irrelevant - we can now have a Fantasy League of statistical expectations and do without the football altogether.
Mathematics is also beautiful, and science as dependent on creativity and imagination as any form of art. The point is that both art and science offer enrichment to our lives by increasing our understanding. What is it about football fans that sees so many determined to impoverish themselves?
Just like the constipated mathematician who worked it out with a pencil - very creative and imaginative and enriched his life no end
Only carrowcanario was interested enough to reply, opting for 2. In fact it is 1. The impression that Emi is amongst the most fouled-against players in the league maybe derives from the number of times he thinks he's been fouled but hasn't! All that sitting on the ground waving his arms while play continues around him.
Comments like this are why i keep coming back here over the years. This place is classier than a royal garden party.
So you are likening our responses to your endless stat attack to a entitled ladies response to a Turner painting exhibition? Sorry robbie, I have now got to the point of having to put you on ignore. Your endless use of stats to evaluate all aspects of our performances is boring beyond belief. It would not be so bad if amongst your stat led posts you actually posted about your feelings about our team and players, but they never get a mention. Goodbye.
So my Match Day threads were not to your liking. That in fact is a complement. I would be really upset if I was in step with you.
Teemu Pukki has won the Finnish Player of the Year award for 2020. After winning the same award in 2019, Pukki began 2020 by scoring in the Premier League against AFC Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur. This season, the forward has scored nine goals in 20 games for club and country in all competitions, including a recent brace against Stoke City. Congratulations, Teemu!
There was nothing implied about your threads at all Bure. Just saying that bengaluru had made things more difficult for himself. I'm grateful to all who take on the MDT -- else I might have to do it myself!
If only all the difficulty i face was as easy as making a MDT! (Admittedly i did initially get the time wrong. And the date. But i got the teams right. That counts for something...)
Wouldn't this comment be more appropriate on the relevant MDT thread? Just in case the 'wrong thread' are on duty this arvo!
I thought this was a forum for discussing football in general and NCFC in particular, not an agony aunt column. I support our team and every single one of our players; I'm not required to slavver over them as well.
Though I am not on here as much as I used to be, I do actually enjoy a bit of stat attack, so keep up the good work RobbieBB. It would be dull if we all loved exactly the same things. Not an attack on anyone else particularly, but why do people feel the need to tear things down and criticise all the time? I can see why some of Robbie's posts might not be for everyone, but to be critical, semi abusive and argue about their merrits for the best part of 10 pages seems silly, do as you suggest and slap on ignore. This forum is quiet enough without trying to do down other posters all the time. I may not find every post or poster consistently my cup of tea, but I never use the ignore function as even if i don't agree with near anything a poster says , I respect and am intested in any yella opinion. And I need to bally well tell them they're wrong! Bah!
