I’m in the yes camp, but only once it’s been rolled out for a while. Being young and fit and healthy (touch wood) I suspect it’ll be a while before it gets to the likes of me anyways.

I see no reason not to.

Plus I would guess that some travel/airline companies will have it as a pre-requisite before you can use them.

I will take it. Once the vulnerable get it we should start to relax the rules anyway but I’m happy to take it. I wouldn’t let my kids take it mind. They aren’t effected by it really so especially while they are still growing I’m not sure I would want them to take it.

I had the flu jab yesterday (only the third time I've had it). My arm is now tender where I had it, like I'd been punched there.

I've a feeling that a lot of travel/airline companies won't want to risk losing customers by demanding travellers get the vaccine. I think many of them wont give a toss.

I’ll have it without hesitation. Hopefully around 80% will get vaccinated and this mf will eventually die out.

I will definitely have it. Suspect it will be compulsory for flying after a certain date. Don’t know how long it will be before they get it here. Might have to get it done when I come back to UK. Presumably there will be pharmacies that will be able to do it for a price.

No not for me, mainly because I don't think I need it really as COVID is clearly very very low risk for people of my age and health. Secondly because it has been rushed through and they can't tell you its safe. Obviously they have taken as many precautions as they can, but there is a reason vaccines generally take 7 or 8 years to get to market. We have long tried to ensure vaccines are monitored over a longer period for safety reasons. Hence laws had to be changed for this.

My uncle is in the pharma game and they are all aware of the risks with this thing - he won't take it but his wife will. As he points out this is not the same as the risk some people take every year with the new flu jabs. The difference is they are simply tweaking an existing flu vaccine (which is largely safe to most people) each year to cope with the most prevalent strains - unsuccessfully largely but there are something like 90 odd strains and they can only produce vaccines for the 3 or 4 most prevalent so cut them some slack.

Anyone who thinks there is zero risk needs to educate themselves on vaccines and the amount of money paid out in compensation (11 billion dollars and rising worldwide). I think there has been about 75m paid out in the UK since I was born. Nobody should be wandering along blind when it comes to taking a vaccine. The government is not saying there is no risk, simply they have done all they can to make it safe in the timeframe required. There has been all manner of cover ups over the years, people dying etc. Its pretty well documented. I keep hearing I don't want to be a guinea pig from people. Its understandable but I think you have to accept that this is a necessary evil in developing vaccines - they won't ever know they are safe until people start taking them and they monitor to them over a significant time period. Sadly that means people get issues and also die as a result of vaccines. We're all different too despite our similarities so its a pretty big ask to get something even 75% safe nevermind 100%. Its obviously sad but I can't really see any other way forward in terms of developing them. Its like war, people are guaranteed to die, so what do we do, just say its not worth one death and let looney tune leaders run wild?

I'd be surprised if airlines are allowed to enforce a travel ban on people who haven't been vaccinated. Many airlines are already saying this won't be the case thankfully. The Qantas guy jumped the gun and thought he could speak on behalf of others. EasyJet and Ryanair have already confirmed they have no plans to put in place such a thing.

This phrase and rhetoric around the term "anti-vaxxer" needs dealt with by the authorities too. Its disgraceful by the press to be making such assertions. I accept online forums will always be rife with such things where people aren't that smart. But the press has more responsibility. Most people I know are happy to take vaccines which have proven safety. To criticise someone and actually apply a term like that to people simply exercising understandable caution is just wrong.

The government has already responded to this also to say they have no plans to introduce such a thing. I think there is a petition that has over quarter of a million signatures also requesting this be prevented. The public backlash is too great with those kinds of numbers.

More money has been spent with more doctors working on it than has ever been seen. People then say "well its an unusually fast vaccine this. Herpiderpidoodilydooiliketoeatmyownpoo"

    Take ye meds faggot

I wouldn't even be given it, but if offered I'd take it of course.

People just dont wanna admit they faint at the sight of needles

I don’t think that’s what people mean about speed. I mean regardless of money spent on it, people working on it, it’s still incredibly rapid. But we have new technology too. So whereas polio vaccines etc may have took 35yrs etc, it’s a different time. I think most sensible people can accept that. However I think what people mean is sometimes it takes longer for problems to reveal themselves. So it’s prudent to run trials for longer. However they are damned if they do, and if they don’t. The economic pain, mental health issues, people not getting treated etc etc means the current plan is not sustainable. So they’ve taken the view to change the law, rush it through, remove liability for the pharma guys and risk it in order to mitigate the **** we are in.

I think the main thing is we just give everyone choice and don’t start turning on each other. Don’t start trying to force people or passing laws that mean you have indirectly made it mandatory. Those that want it should get it and not be castigated by others for doing so. Likewise those that don’t want it should do as they please and take their chances. If they change their mind as safety looks more certain, then they can take it then. There’s too much confrontation and people trying to pretend that just because they believe something it’s automatically correct. Each to their own as always, don’t be a dick basically.
