Swansea City v Luton Town Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Liberty Stadium Kick off - 3pm Date - 5 December 2020 Following their disappointing 2-1 defeat away at the Riverside against Middlesbrough, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a home match against improving Luton. On Wednesday, after 14 months without a goal, Duncan Watmore scored two in the space of 41 minutes to fire Boro to a crucial and impressive victory against play-off chasing rivals Swansea. The first had a slice of good fortune about it, deflecting into the bottom corner. However, there was nothing lucky about his second midway through the second period, showing a calm head to slot home after he was picked out by Paddy McNair in a devastating counter. Yan Dhanda's goal gave the Swans hope and turned what was looking like a comfortable finale into a nerve-racking finish, but Boro were able to see it out for one of their best wins under Neil Warnock. As a result, the Swans dropped from 4th to 7th. On the same evening, leaders Norwich slipped to their first defeat in almost two months as they were beaten 3-1 at Luton in the Sky Bet Championship. A goal from Matty Pearson and a penalty from James Collins secured victory for the Hatters at Kenilworth Road after Norwich’s Emi Buendia had cancelled out George Moncur's opener. The 3 points moved Luton up to 11th, just 4 points behind the Swans. The Swans have played the Hatters on 52 previous occasions, winning 19, drawing 11 and losing 22. In the corresponding fixture in June after Lockdown, Luton rather surprisingly, although deservedly ran out 1-0 winners: Remarkably, that Luton victory also followed immediately after the Swans had played at the Riverside. On that occasion, the Swans had won at Boro, so I’m hoping that the result this Saturday at the Liberty will also be the reverse outcome. However, for that to happen, the Swans will have to not only produce a vastly improved performance, but will also need to get their scoring boots on and start netting more than one goal a game. I’m hoping that the Swans will run out 2-0 winners, but would not be surprised to see Luton take a point.
Thanks Taff....to win any game we need to score at least one goal obviously. To that end I would expect training to have been shooting practice so I reckon we will score two and win....
A much more open game so I expect both sides to score , and I'm afraid to post but another defeat 1-2
Thanks for the excellent foreword Taff. SWA 0-1 LUT Luton have been a bogey team in recent years, the midweek loss wouldn’t have helped. Hope for a win or at least scrape a point, but I can’t see it this time round. Sorry lads.
Think they have a shrewd manager who will set them up to be very hard to break down, I think Ed he sussed us out last year so I am worried. However, hopefully we have had a wake up call at Borough and we will turn up.
