  1. Hey Guys

With LaSagna on the sidelines, how do you see our defence being organised? I know there's Jenkinson of course but he's quite inexperienced and while I'm sure he'll rise to the occasion, if he too has to be replaced, what then? Who would you move around and how?

As you are aware, I'm not great on positions so it's over to you pals.

    Good Health

    <cheers>

Frightening. Seriously, that's just awful. Can you imagine our reaction in the summer if we were told we'd be having to play this?! Thankfully we've the international break now so hopefully we'll get Koscielny and maybe even Vermaelen back (dear lord please). Sagna being injured is an absolute c*ckweasel as he's always been such an unassuming, consistent player for us.

I see the line-up post international break as this:

    Jenks--Mertesacker--Vermaelen/Koscielny--Gibbs
    ------------------Song------------------------

Mertesacker, Jenkinson and Santos have been thrown in at the deep end and I worry they'll get desperate fans on their backs too soon. They really need a chance to settle and get used to team mates, the english game and our system (assuming we get one). So many players who are now deemed EPL stalwarts took ages to adjust to the league and these guys are no different. Yes it would have been helpful had they hit the ground running but it's not happened.

Would Frimpong be able to play right back anyone? he has strength pace and power, I dont think he has the technical ability to play midfield right now, if he could be schooled a little more on defending and could keep a cool head he would be a powerful right back. Coq for me is a ahead of him for DM midfield berth.

Our defence is kack, Jenkinson ?? You must be joking !!!

Is this what the mighty Arsenal have to resort to, untried Div 1 players ?

  10. There seems no end to the lack of cover and preparation of this team. How we were ever placed at such risk defies common sense and belief. No wonder Arsene has now proclaimed a new target in that 4th place. What I do fear now is that if we only aim for 4th........well, you know the rest my friends.

Fingers and toes crossed. January cannot come sooner.

7 games in and Arsenal are aiming for fourth in the league .. I am hanging my head in shame.

Many people predicted this .. it is finally happening.

  12. Thinking about it really makes me angry that we have been put in this position but the man who can do something about it simply won't listen.....

When varmaelen is back I would play Koscielny ay right back, he is mobile and a good tackler, plus good at one on ones, that would be a back four of Kos, mertasaker, vermaelen, gibbs/ santos

Like it. We will become more solid for sure. The guy is pretty outstanding at one on one defending. Might not do much going forward but the important thing is we learn how to become solid at the back.

Sod it, let's just go with four centre backs and rely on our new Denilson powered midfield to get the creativity!

Remember when we played Flamini at left back in 2006? he was outstanding, I don't know if this had much to do with Martin Keown coaching us or not, but surely someone like Fimpong or Coq could be more than able to fill in at right back, if Gary Neville could play there effectively then surely either of these lads with their pace, power and defensive mindset could do a job there.

  17. I think you hit the nail there Gunner. Mindset.

From what I've read or from a recent interview on Talksport, many associate Martin Keown's presence with an improvement in our defensive play when he was training with us for his EUFA credentials.

Hmm, he's like a lesser Vermaelen so if TV can do a good job at left back maybe our jug-eared beanpole can do a job at right back. Maybe. Part of me is of the opinion that we signed a designated RB so lets use him. The other part says yes but he's (Jenkinson) young and pretty pap as things stand and I don't want to ruin what could be a promising player. What I'd give to get Vermaelen and Koscielny back and have no more defensive injuries for the rest of the season.

What about Coquelin at RB? I really am not comfortable with the idea of Jenkinson playing more games at the moment. Sure h may have been thrown in at the deep ened but he is simply not good enough. I believe Coquelin was on loan as a RB/DM last season and in his couple of performances this season, I've seen more to be excited about than a lot of the other youngsters.

Out of the names already mentioned, I would prefer Kos stuck to CB but if need be he could do a job at RB. Guess what I'm saying is, anyone but Jenkinson <yikes>
