I got let down scores of times by my dads uncle I turned up at his house many times and he made excuses he couldn’t take me It wasn’t until I was old enough to go on my own that I went to my first game 1964v derby county we won 3-0 22 nd February
I was trying to explain that to my missus a while back and couldn't quite capture the feeling of standing at a match - the camaraderie of the folks around you and the swaying around after you scored and the days out on an away game. So to show here properly, I've always wanted to take her to a York v Pools away game, day out on the train, few beers and then head to York's ground. But now York's moved into a new all-seater so I doubt I'll ever get to show her!
Our time will come again mate. Standing areas may be allowed back. When we get back on our feet I'm sure there'll be opportunity for your missus to enjoy a visit to the Sol in all it's manic best. My wife loved it,my Grandkids love it..despite none of them being from the area...away days are extra special when we're doing well though mind,so make sure she's primed up to what to expect!!
Oh she's been a few times. Her first match was the game against Reading when it was called off cos of the rain - we spent all afternoon in the Wetherspoon's pub in town! Her last game was against Celtic pre-season and I think the atmosphere there unnerved her. We were sat right next to them in the east stand and even I could feel it changing. So after a thoroughly **** first half we retired to a pub to wait for the train home.
There is nothing like an away game I remember going to matches in the old third div and we would take 3 sides of the ground and you could see actual shock on the home fans faces.
Each one a good player, Anderson, Hurley, McNab and Clough exceptional. If only we had their likes now...
I really hope we have a manager for Saturday. The clown on the touchline Tuesday was an embarrassment
even if we announced one tonight or tomorrow they have no time for Saturday Taylor will be in charge for that game
I've never had an issue with the mods over there tbh but then again I'm not a prolific poster. Much less so since i joined here. They do seem to let mags and wums have free reign at times. Again I've not had an issue with wums. That said I'm not itk or as I've said a big poster so not really a target i suppose. I'm unimportant and irrelevant, just how i like it There's loads of good members over there that won't come here. They either put up with the wums or stop posting. The latter being a shame. I preferred it on here as it was quieter The best way to deal with wums if they bother you is to ignore them. You cannat punch them through a keyboard But if people are getting constantly trolled like Carty was then the mods need to step in. Assuming it's brought to their attention. Mind i do get trolled and sexually harassed by that @Makemstine Roger .
I agree- in the beginning he was fantastic. But during the close season before his last at Sunderland he ballooned. Incidentally, he died last August (R.I.P).
