Look North reporting we are 15th with 300/100k.

They report differently to the Government’s figures though.

They take their information from the same source but one applies a 3 day lag and one applies a 4 day lag so it ends up the same eventually.

The BBC (which essentially projects what tomorrow’s Government figures will be) has Hull at 280 per 100,000 and in 20th.

Does it say what date that's for? The recent figures tend to be less accurate due to late arrivals, but that tends to make them lower. At 280, that would seem to suggest the rate of fall isn't as high as it has been if it's for today or yesterday.

The end of 2020 is fast approaching, with coronavirus cases still running high. But as we tackle the virus over the coming winter, no one should be faced with the fear of being plunged into debt as well.

Right now, 2 million workers don’t qualify for statutory sick pay if they get ill. Without any source of income, many would struggle to feed their families.

The more people covered by statutory sick pay, the greater the number who can afford to quarantine safely at home if they need to.

Sick pay is key to containing the spread of the virus.

But Ministers will only feel the urgency of this solution if thousands of us raise the alarm. Can you sign the petition calling for #SickPayForAll?

As bizarre as it sounds, dropping to tier 2 could be worse for a fair number of businesses, such as hospitality, as while they are forced to close in tier 3, they get protection, yet in tier 2, they can theoretically open, yet trade is down due to it being limited to family groups, and the food element means quite a few pubs cannot handle the amount of trade that they'd need to to enable people to sit and have a beer.

How will it be funded ? Increase in income taxes/corporate taxes ?
Higher taxes for self employed/sole proprietor's of small one-man businesses ?
Health insurance policies (and obvious premiums to be paid) to cover the extra costs of running businesses & giving additional employee benefits ?
Not something all would agree to. A very complex problem.

    Not complex
It could easily be paid by taxing the people who take billions of quid out of the uk economy by running businesses an hedge funds through offshore tax havens.

Can’t quite remember where but a publican from somewhere open for household ms to use said they’d rather be forced to close so they got financial support

    Yep
And Philip Green / Mrs Green and Arcadia
    And Mogg
    And loads of people/ companies

    it’s not a right wing/left wing argument

it’s just people following rules specifically set up to keep rich people rich and poor people poor. Both sides of the political divide have people happy to use that instead of changing it

    the system needs changing
