Another crap day at the office. Can’t see it changing under Rodgers. 3 homes defeats against bottom half sides already and without all the pens, well in the bottom half for goals scored. I guess we stick with him due to cost and reputation etc but we are just so boring and frustrating to watch right now. The number of average championship seasons and league one I sat in the stands week in week out and enjoyed it but that’s the last two weekends that I haven’t made it to the second half. Yes no supporters might make a difference but I just can’t remember watching us and wanting to claw my eyes out like I do under Rodgers and I’m just of the view that why put myself through the unenjoyment now. Just too soft and once we go that second goal behind you know we are done. Is there anything more certain next weekend, up against a Sheffield United side with no wins and one point, after a mid week trip to Ukraine? 1-0 Blades all over it!
totally agree and incredibly slow as well - no high intensity press and they didn't look up for it. hopefully brendan has the hairdryer with him tonight! Fair play to Fulham though .. way hungrier
Horrible performance. Have to admit I can't for the life of me understand why we started with a back 5 and lone striker against a team in Fulham's position. We got bossed and bullied all over the park tonight. Would have hooked Christian Fuchs at half time ... he was getting torn apart by pace yet again. Did we have the wrong studs or something ... coz they seemed way more sure footed. Oh well ... bring on Thursday ... time to reinvigorate with some of the returning lads ..
Stoke away in the cup in the middle of all that too, going to be a physical mis match there. At least we didn’t draw Marine or Chorley!
So disappointed but why am I not surprised. Why are we either very good or very bad. Why did we have to pick very bad tonight! I knew as soon as I saw the teams, with them including the subs who made a massive difference against Everton we were in trouble. (I'm not in the shed by the way but admittedly haven't been very magnanimous in defeat to the other half).
Feel a bit sorry for young Thomas. Obviously playing to instruction but we might as well have played with 10 men. Never moved more than a yard from the touchline and then hooked again. And if there's one thing that rips my shorts it's a pro taking a corner and can't beat the first man. Miserable, me and the game.
Gotta start being more positive. If your playing 5 defenders, then you don't need 2 holding midfielders at home against a team that will sit off, massive gaps between their defence and midfield that could have been exploited by an extra number 10 in there to break their lines.
Ultimately, bang average manager with bang average players (generally aside from a few) available currently. Will things improve when we get our 4 missing stars back, hopefully. I’m personally thinking that this is as good as we get under Rodgers which is frustrating as we know we do have a good squad when available. There’s zero justification for that system at home to Fulham though. We lose so much attacking intent and it’s hardly making us strong at the back with 8 shipped in 3 games. It adds weight to the argument that our early season form was down to fortune and pens. The EL is such a good opportunity for us but even now, months ahead of the business end, it’s so clear that he will **** himself and go all defensive. I just don’t think he has a winning mentality, we all laughed at Spurs under Poch but that is what we have become....
For me, this formation worked well until Maddison and Evans came back. Maddison has to play central behind the striker. So either play 5 at the back without him or 4 at the back with him - whichever he feels the game most suits. Evans for whatever reason seems to really struggle in a back 5. I actually think the back 5 is best with Justin was one of the wide central defenders as his pace gets them out of trouble.
....and on to Thursday. I am hoping Kasper, Evans and Vardy don't travel on Thursday. Absolutely no need. Let them rest. Hopefully Ndidi, Soyuncu and Ricardo get a good 60 mins under their belt. We need them back, but don't push them too far, too soon. Not heard anything on Castagne though.
Brendan said yesterday that Castagne had been ready for last weekend but then felt a pain. He's had a scan, which was clear and they're monitoring him. Definitely not available for Thursday, see how it goes for next weekend.
Unsure if it was the last international break or Fofana’s hair but something stopped the momentum in its tracks! The problem with this team is that they seem all or nothing, it’s hardly moving forward as a club to put a few wins together and follow that up with an equally long winless run. That along with the fact that when we don’t lose playing well and fighting it infuriating. It’s just so so boring to watch us. I just don’t see any identity or plan in place which is even something I saw with Puel. This is definitely not about being entitled or just blaming the manager for a couple of bad results as I was very outspoken and clashed with Proud Fox a lot in my support of Puel, I just really find this Leicester side to be the most dull, lacking direction and soft as any for a long long time... Growing up in the Micky Adam’s era, I’d say all I have ever wanted from a Leicester side is a consistent, hard working side that shows a willingness to try and win games and not fold like a pack of cards. This jeckle and Hyde crap will get us nowhere...
I think you're being a bit harsh, John. When this team does fire then we play some very good quick interpassing. I do understand and agree with you that it is the fact we are capable of that that makes it so frustrating when we play like we did against Liverpool, Fulham and Villa. And like most people the passing across the back that allows the opposition to get back into a defensive position drives me potty. What I find even more frustrating is the fact that we are not capable of defending properly and give away such preventable goals. Fofana's first couple of games made him look like the answer to our prayers. He commanded his own penalty area in the air, held his position and made some great challenges and tackles. I don't know what has happened to that player. When he plays in a back 5 he's all over the place, with no one trying to rein him in. Last night in a back 4 he looked much better but he was responsible for the goal. One minute he's next to the guy who scores and the next thing he's 5 yards behind him and it's a tap in. Spot the danger and follow the man. Good defending isn't rocket science. It's about concentration, awareness and positioning. Those are all things that someone needs to ram into Choudhury's head. We might as well have placed a traffic cone on the pitch instead of him last night. At least it would have been in the right position some of the time. He has absolutely no idea of where he should be as a midfielder. His development has gone backwards. The only positives last night were the fact that Ricardo and Wilf got some game time in, and it was probably better that Cags broke down last night rather than in a league game. James Justin continues to be the only consistent player in the side, and he should get great credit for having played every game this season and doesn't even look tired.
