Good Morning. Its Tuesday 1st December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds drawn away to the People's Pension Stadium for 3rd Round of FA Cup

Leeds have been drawn against John Yem's Crawley Town in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup this season. The Reds have been a part of the football league since the 2010-11 season when under the tenure of Steve Evans they earned entry into the top 92 clubs in the Country. Evans of course went on to manage Leeds under the Cellino regime.

When asked whether he was buzzing from the draw, Yems joked: "Not really, I wanted a bigger club! "Seriously, you couldn't have asked for more. It's obviously a tough game but let's hope a few more fans will be able to come".

"It will be the biggest game at home in the club's history."

"It's got to be great for the town. It will give everyone a boost. It will be good for the players playing against good players let's just hope we put on a good show."

The game is scheduled for the weekend of 9th - 10th January 2021.

Financial savings by not attending games

Those of you at attend home and away games, how much money do you think you have saved by not being able to attend matches. Apart from the petrol station, where would you normally spend your money when attending an away game?

Would you ever have an overnight stay?

Do you try and explore the local attractions (and we're not talking about Wetherspoons)!

Have you ever driven a long distance to an away game, only for it to be cancelled?

Will Leeds need to sell before they can buy?

Having spent close to 100m in the Summer, and the financial climate not changing anytime soon, is it time to showcase some of our fringe talent to build up a kitty?

The main player I was thinking of is Costa. The 26yo has done absolutely nothing wrong during his tenure, but with the arrival of Raphinha , surely the ex Wolves wingers appearances are going to be limited?

This is of course based on the Brazilian occupying the right wing position! Is that Raphinha's best position?

Let's not forget, we already have Hernandez and Poveda that operate the right wing!

Should Leeds be making a concerted effort to move on Casilla due to his high wage packet?

What about Roberts? Lets not forget he is only 21. He could have a big future in front of him!

For how long will Rodrigo be happy to play second fiddle to Bamford?

    Morning all,

Hopefully Crawley will be the start of a cup run to the final where we win it. If any year is the year we should be making an effort in the cup this is it.
We are playing the least amount of games in one season than we have in years.

With the moaning from the teams involved in Europe about fixture congestion you would expect them toplay the kids on the cup.

The likes of us, villa, west ham and Everton should be pushing hard for that piece of silverware.

I honestly believe we will be far enough away from a relegation battle to be able to focus on the cup as well.

    Morning guys.

Costa had his most successful spells in his career on the left. He is a quality back up.

Hopefully we have a go at the cup if we pick up plenty of points in December. It's a competition that we could potentially go far in if we get a few kind draws.

As for transfers in January I'm not bothered. If we survive this year then we should have extra funds next summer.

    Morning all...

Crawley have scored some goals this season and had a few decent results, if we show them disrespect by fielding virtually an U23 side we might come unstuck.

In regards to sell before we can buy, I guess it depends what position Bielsa is looking for. If he wants a classy LB I’d be okay with Alioski or Costa being sold. Is Forshaw ever going to feature? He can go along with Tyler Roberts, Pablo needs to be moved on now too.

Pablo shouldn’t ever get ahead of Raphinha or Rodrigo, I’d even throw Poveda in ahead of him. Kiko is another we need to move on.

    Morning all.

We'll play kids in the cup, there's surely only one objective this season and that's staying in the PL.

I reckon I've probably saved £1000 on trips to Elland Road. Travel up from London by train these days so taking into account match tickets, train tickets, various other expenses (parking, buses, food, beer) I reckon I easily spend £170 a game for me and my son.Went seven times last season and was planning on at least 2 or 3 more when lockdown hit. Would have been to at least 3 so far this season assuming I could have got tickets with my gold membership and that was getting increasingly difficult last season..

In my youth I would sometimes travel up with Palace or Wimbeldon supporting mates (yes, they exist !) and we'd stay in a B'n'B in Headingley and go out on the lash in town after the game. More recently when my lad was younger I would travel up by coach and stay up in town or occasionally with family but to be honest we preferred staying in Leeds after the game to soak up the atmosphere.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Still not getting the comments about Roberts only being 21 and can be great? Sorry hes been here years and done nothing except the odd good game. Out of his depth in my opinion and should be moved on for his own for his own career. Plenty of 18,19,20,21yo players doing great things in the Prem and all over the world so being 21 doesnt wash with me anymore.

Wages off the books in January will be Grot, Nessy and Bhoy and hopefully Kiko.

Rodrigo De Paul has been formally marketed at £27m, if only Udinese would have done that in the Summer. Will we go and try and get him? Or will he go to Inter Milan?

We went for a creative midfielder in the Summer which fell through, so will we wait until next Summer? I believe they have someone in mind but they may wait and remember we have one loan berth available if its a loan to buy al. De Paul at the high end of players would be a stunning signing but we usually go under the radar?

The cup game will be an U23 affair for us as we have 3 league games in a few days leading up to it

Let's face it, no one is going to take Coco off our hands so I hope we pay up his contract now.

The young keepers like Caprile would benefit by being on the bench and gaining match day experience.

As for incomings/outgoing in January, whatever Bielsa decides is fine by me.

Over the decades of attending football matches the travel fare & match ticket has been the major expense, latterly I've saved a fair bit being a concession on both counts.

I try minimise food/drink expenses to £20 on away trips as I always take a pack-up with me too, prepared by Mrs 64 of course!

Difficult to ascertain how much I've saved, lets say my bank account is considerably richer

After some decent displays from Barry Douglas I see he was subbed after 15 minutes v Barnsley last weekend, unsure how serious the injury is

I doubt we'd acquire much cash for Roberts, Forshaw & Douglas whom are all injury prone players.

Wouldn't concern me if all three left Leeds in time as they are not Premier League standard imo!

Championship sides would be falling over themselves to sign someone with Hernandez's talent.

We could probably secure a 3m fee.

He's the kind of player who would make a difference to a team.

Bit harsh to judge whether Forshaw is premier standard when he has not played a minute under Bielsa in the Prem yet.

Bamford, Cooper, Alioski and Ayling- i dare bet you thought they were not up to the Prem standard before you even saw them play in the Prem?

Forshaw was classed by Bielsa has his best player before he got injured, so expect him to get a chance as soon as hes proved himself with a few games for the U23s. Time not on bis side now as hes 30ish and has lost a couple of seasons equivalent worth of football since joining Leeds. Even if he starts for the 23s this week it’ll be Feb at the earliest before Bielsa can see his match fitness is back.

A back up for KP would be useful. Apart from closing him down with speedy midfielders, which works to a degree, it wouldn't surprise me if one of the opposition with a less mobile midfield sets a DM onto him with the aim of crocking him. Having said that, Klich seems to be able to do a fair amount of what KP does, but not from that position.

Forshaw is a starting midfielder for us if he gets back to what he can be.

He was one of Boro's best players in the PL the year they were relegated even spoke of maybe an international call up. The lad is a good player.

Nobody would buy him anyway with his current injury situation. We can only sell him if he gets back to full fitness and if he gets to full fitness then he probably starts in front of Dallas, Roberts in midfield.

Don't know what the plans for Rodrigo are but I'd like to see him up front.

There is zero chance of getting any money for a 35 year old.

The only money you would save would be wages.

Roberts might go for 5 million though. That's a deal I would make.

Then there a few out on loan that we could get small fees for like Kun, Grot, LDB, Edmonson, Stevens. Might make 3 million there.

Bamford threw at bit of a strop when subbed against Everton. Wonder if he'll be getting the Hernandez treatment from Bielsa and we'll see Rodrigo up front at Chelsea <confused>
