Dean Holden drops Adrian Mariappa hint ahead of QPR test and delivers Tyreeq Bakinson update Adrian Mariappa has not featured yet for Bristol City since joining on a free transfer last month following his exit from Watford, but Dean Holden has spoken positively about the defender https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dean-holden-mariappa-hint-qpr-4751742
Mariappa will replace Moore if Kalas isn't fit. Whatever I'll be surprised if we see Moore, barring more injuries, starting again this season.
I didn't think Moore was as bad against Reading as you clearly do. His distribution is not the greatest, but to be honest, nobody was on Saturday it was a succession of long hoofs forward
Forget about Reading, Moore is just not a Championship defender. Let's hope we get a few players back tonight and a positive result.
Not sure on that, he is susceptible to mistakes for sure, but he's still a good squad member for me I still think it's an area we don't have quite right, Kalas and Baker (when he's fit....) have also looked very ordinary at CH last season, and just as prone to bad mistakes as TM
Sorry Supcon, totally disagree. Baker can't pass but defend??? No comparison. And to compare Kalas with Moore is just daft.
Moore hasn’t pushed on as much as I’d hoped he would, unlike Vyner , who has exceeded my expectations, and while I agree he isn’t a top championship player he’s still relatively young so is likely to improve. Consistency and concentration is where he’s lacking , at times he looks pretty good and others he looks pretty poor, give him time .
Ashton, I understand giving him time. But somewhere else. If he improves elsewhere we all win when he returns. However to me he looks like a rabbit in the road, nervous and certainly doesn't look a natural defender. Who knows in time you might be right, I hope you are. Nevertheless I wouldn't want to see him in a red shirt until he possibly improves from gaining experience at another club.
But when LJ loaned him out last season, loads of people complained. So are you saying @Redprintt that LJ was correct?
I agree, but he has had several loans now, so at what point does he make the grade or not? I still think he's an OK CB more so in a back 3, than a back 2, but I agree he is not great, but also not bad. Time will tell if he kicks on or not. Vyner also looks good one week and awful the next, I'm not sure if it's a result of his position and the formation changing frequently due to the defensive injuries or not, probably more 2 young lads learning their trade in a very competitive league? I said the same about Lloyd Kelly though and he went for £10million, about £8million more than I thought he was worth tbh. I wonder what he's worth now?
Most definitely, he'd be gone again but for Mawson Kalas and Baker's injuries. Junior even rated his star capture and captain the useless Bailey Wright in front of Moore.
I think it’s a confidence thing , he has the attributes to be a decent championship player, but I do agree he is getting an opportunity now and has to take it, personally I’d allow him a bit more time , but soon I agree he has to step up or be moved on .
QPR v BRISTOL CITYMansionBet Match Preview: QPR (A) Tuesday, December 1st 2020 City have the chance to bounce back from defeat when they head to the capital on Tuesday evening. Mark Warburton's QPR are the hosts in West London to kick off the December schedule and the Robins will be hoping for better fortunes after a disappointing 3-1 loss at the hands of Reading on Saturday. In partnership with MansionBet, here’s a preview of what you can expect from the fixture with the Hoops... Dean Holden revealed his disappointment after that loss in Berkshire, acknowledging his players were not at the level he expected from them. Though Nahki Wells equalised as City looked like they might potentially get on top, Reading responded quickly and fired home again in injury time. The scoreline could have been worse but for Dan Bentley's performance between the posts. Now Holden is keen to ensure heads don't drop, with that being City's first defeat after a four-game unbeaten run. They were five games without a victory prior to that spell and the message over the last couple of days has been not allowing a similar fate to follow once more. As for QPR, wins have been hard to come by for Mark Warburton this season. After picking up three points on the opening day, it wouldn’t be until Halloween that QPR secured victory again in their 3-2 win over Cardiff City. Since then, wins over Derby County and Rotherham United in November have helped the Hoops climb to 15th in the table but they would be beaten 2-1 by Brentford in Saturday’s West London derby. Vitaly Janelt Brentford ahead on 14 minutes, but QPR top scorer Lyndon Dykes equalised from close range 12 minutes later. Ivan Toney went on to score the second-half winner, though QPR ended the game with 10 men after defender Todd Kane was dismissed for a high tackle, meaning he is suspended for Tuesday’s match with the Robins. The R's are a team who often look for width, however they are susceptible to the counter-attack and defending the wide areas meaning City’s wing-backs could be set for a busy evening. MATCH DETAILS Where: Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium When: Tuesday, December 1st, 7.45pm KO Competition: Sky Bet Championship Referee: James Linington Assistants: Daniel Leach and Adam Crysell Fourth official: Nigel Lugg DOWN MEMORY LANE QPR 1-3 Bristol City Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium Tuesday, August 21st 2018 Sky Bet Championship Matty Taylor and Andreas Weimann scored to secure City their first league win at Loftus Road for 41 years. Quick goals either side of half time dealt the damage as Taylor drilled a low shot to give City the lead four minutes before the break. The away side had soaked up some QPR pressure but soon took control of the fixture as they proved their ability to respond to last weekend’s defeat. And Weimann doubled the advantage shortly after the interval, as he converted Niclas Eliasson’s superb cross. He then tapped in his fourth goal in a City shirt as he made the most of Josh Brownhill’s cross, to put to bed any doubt of an historic win. The result confirmed City’s first three points of the 2018/19 season and their first league victory at QPR since 1977. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/mansionbet-match-preview-qpr-a/
