Fitness coach / Head of athletic performance and sports science has left. Looks like your letter brought about immediate results oldgaffer... Can you write some more please?
I think he's away on personal leave, but it's a move in the right direction Hampy! This whole Phil, TWTD, EADT, Brennar, Lambo PR issue has brewed a right old storm.
He is on personal leave, so will be 'working from home' in a consultancy role for the rest of the season. Matt Gill, a first team coach with no medical background, took over match-day warm up duties over the last two games in which we lost Norwood, Sears, and Nsiala to muscle injuries. Coincidence? You truly cannot write it at the moment. The stench of decline and this semi-pro approach to running the club is turning us into a laughing stock.
Out of the 25 squad of outfield players (not including the kids) Currently Out Injured; Wilson KVY Edwards Skuse Nolan Bishop Nydam Downes Norwood Sears Our for some part of the season through injury; Ward Wolfy Lankester Drinaan Jacko Hawkins That means only 9 players have have been fit all season, and two of those have had long term injuries last season (Dozzell and Huws), and this is only after we've played 14 league games of a 46 match season. I know we're all sounding like a broken record, but our so called medical team, and sports science department are an absolute waste of oxygen. We can all have a dig at Lambert for not getting tactics right, etc, but for me, this bar far is our biggest problem. If we had a full strength squad, im pretty certain we'd get promoted. The squad we have is by far top two material. At the start of the season, we had Nolan, Bishop and Dozzell all starting regularly - as soon as that got broken up with injures, we started to falter. It's no coincidence. Evans needs to invest, not necessarily on players, but a top class medical and fitness centre. Getting, and keeping everyone fit is what will get us promoted
You make a very good point stretchy boy and it hasn't been just this season its been the last few seasons, its what happens when you try to compete with the big boys on a smaller budget, you cut corners. Add this the fact we have taken risks on injury prone players because you want to increase the quality but not pay the premium like Judge, Keane and Huws. And unfortunately that is generally why I haven't turned on Lambert, because people keep going on about the squad but since we've been in League 1 I don't recall a time when we didn't have a huge amount of injuries. Then you have the problem that players are always playing catch up with there fitness. I can rarely think of a player who has had a significant injury and come back to have a good season
My critisicm of Lambert in this is that he's too much of a yes man. If he came out & stated that the training / sports science facilties were not up to scratch, I'd have a lot more respecet for him. Instead, he happily plods along saying nothing that will upset ME or rock the boat in any way while we head further into obscurity.
All managers appointed by Evans have been yes men, it’s in their contract to not criticise Marcus Evans the man or the ‘Brand’, I believe that the manager of Ipswich gets a very lucrative contract to accept the lack of investment and to accept the lack of ambition and pay lip service to the owner whilst deflecting any criticism away from the worlds ****test businessman.
