You mention the ref in this “Hand of God” incident, and this article was issued on the very topic a few days ago. A very interesting read!
I’m sorry you feel it’s that personal when I was merely disagreeing with a post I felt was in rather poor taste and frankly a bit hypocritical. Have a lovely evening though.
Hi Ski, I did see an article the other day about the ref saying how proud he was to be part of the best goal ever scored in a world Cup and he seemed in awe of Maradona which I did find a bit odd, suspicious and made me question his allegiance. He even met up with him a few years back and got a signed shirt!
True. I was also quite shocked when I read it. A very interesting insight into an unprofessional and unethical incident. It is rather sad that the ref seems rather proud of it. This gross “mistake” is the “highlight” of his career!
Side note to topic: I’m actually proud of our little island and nation of my birth. Seems you oddly aren’t.
I have a friend who will love this. It has some great history we should all be proud of, as much as you can be proud of it for the coincidence of being born there. The current state of the place, not so much, but as always just my opinion of it. I don’t expect it to be a popular one and that’s ok. I should have gone with “bitter” rather than “****” in the context of the thread topic.
Different people have different interpretations of what constitutes greatness. I am proud of the Tolpuddle Martyrs, and the Diggers, but not of the Duke of Marlborough, or any of those others who fought in places they had no right to be.
