    Good post Cobber.

Even the dopiest rose tinted happy clapper will be skeptical mate, its inevitable ...

... we've had local lad made good Murray, club legend Quinn, billionaire Short and 'breath of fresh air' Donald all of whom have got it wrong in various ways.

The same can be said of clubs like Wolves, Leicester, Southampton, etc who've been bankrupt, stranded and 'finished' with angry mobs at the gates, liquidators in the boardroom and the future looking bleak. Yet, often by accident, clubs have landed on their feet, Leicester won the title with Wes Morgan ffs <laugh> Ranieri wasn't even supposed to be there. He only came in because of a sordid scandal and the existing manager losing his mind.

People think there's a mystical 'model' out there and that clubs who succeed have a master plan hammered out by experts and led by a genius ... the reality is that clubs shuffle the pieces of the jigsaw around until they eventually drop into place. Man City had some laughable attempts before it all came right, even when they had the money they still couldn't get it right. Spurs have spent huge time, effort and money yet always fall short, they'd already bought the silver polish when they handed the title to Leicester. Spurs have been stable, highly funded and with a real plan as well as being London based and glamorous.

Lots of clubs have billionaires yet trundle around looking hopeless and clubs like Sheff Utd seem to have 'cracked the code' then crack up. Southampton went bust, had owners fighting with the supporters and dropped on a PE teacher to reverse the trend.

Without mega-money the likes of Sunderland are just hoping for the perfect storm and that's what I'm hoping for now. Yes we're naturally skeptical but there has to be a place for blind faith, dreams and hope ...

... that's all we really have if we're honest. Newcastle supporters have proved, beyond all reasonable doubt, that 'putting pressure on the club', protesting and boycotting might make people feel better but has virtually no effect. Digging around the accounts, Googling prospective owners and making grandiose statements is good fun for the fanzines, and keeps the lads off the streets, but it's basically futile.

We've all become 'experts' in accountancy, law and business planning since the advent of social media which is a bit of a laugh but not much more. All it really does is make the supporters feel proactive and allows them to believe they have a degree of control.

Personally I'll always revert to being another daft lad cheering the shirt, cheering our goals and believing we've got it right this time ...

... hope is all we really have and that's the reality, whatever the 'realists' choose to believe.

I don’t blame anyone for being sceptical, it’s when they go and preach doom and gloom and bring everyone down, they can’t just leave it there. They make **** up about it not being takeover, nothings changed cos the failures will still make the decisions etc. They are telling those that are happy about it not to get carried away because no one knows the breakdown of shares or how it will pan out, whilst telling us that it won’t change, despite not knowing the breakdown of shares or how it will pan out.
I’m an old curmudgeon sometimes, unbelievable I know but thanks, yet even I am letting myself believe that we are turning a corner on this one, well at least until I run smack bang into a parked car further up the road.

I posted the Athletic one about KLD the other day which people seemed grateful for so I’m hoping my hint is enough to get the telegraph one posted here ;)

One thing I love about football fans is the eternal optimism, even when that red and white life preserver we reach for turns out to be just another straw to grasp at! It's the hope...

Going by this snippet it looks to be the usual doom and gloom tailored to his mag fanbase

The fact that Sunderland are looking to appoint their 18th manager since the turn of the century is a shuddering statistic, which not only shows how many mistakes have been made in filling the position, but also the wider malaise at a club that has lurched from failure to farcical for the best part of a decade.

You’d have to ask them! My guess would be that it’s something to listen to that’s relevant to an interest.

  20. Whilst he is pandering to his audience,I wouldn't disagree with much in that snippet mind.
