    Middlesbrough v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Date - 2 December 2020
    Kick off - 19.00
    Venue - Riverside Stadium

Following their hard fought but fully deserved 1-0 away win against Nottingham Forest, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is another tricky looking away trip, this time to play Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough.

On Sunday, Nottingham Forest fell to their third successive Championship defeat when the Swans came away from the City Ground with all three points.

The Reds fell to 21st place in the table after Saturday's results and were unable to climb the table against Steve Cooper's men, thanks to a goal just before half-time from Conor Roberts, it was the goal that proved ultimately to be the winner.

Forest did start the game on the front foot, putting the Swans under pressure from the first whistle, and the Reds could have taken the lead when Lyle Roberts connected with Sammy Ameobi's low cross from the left, only to see his effort go just agonisingly past the far post.

The previous day, Huddersfield sealed their first win in five games with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Terriers went behind to Marvin Johnson's early strike but two goals before the interval turned the game on its head.

Carel Eiting equalised and then Fraizer Campbell made it 2-1.

Britt Assombalonga thought his late penalty had earned a point for Boro, but Josh Koroma's fine strike sealed the points for Town.

The Swans have played Boro 48 times since their first meeting 95 years ago, with Swansea winning 18, losing 19 and 11 drawn.

In the corresponding fixture last season, the Swans ran out comfortable 3-0 winners, thanks to goals from Brewster (2) and Ayew:

Turning to Wednesday evening, I’m sure that Neil Warnock will have his team fully motivated - not only because they lost last Saturday but also because he is a former Cardiff Manager. As such, I’m going for a 1-1 draw although I’m hoping for another 1-0 win <cheers>

Thanks Taff. The current league stats suggest 0-0 but I too can see us possibly nicking this one. So its 0-1 for me as well.

Last season we went top after beating Lids at Elland Road after a great backs to the wall performance and a last minute winner from Routs but we were lucky around that time because we weren’t playing well and we rapidly went further away from the top...
This season we look like a good unit albeit not scoring as many goals as I would like. Don’t forget with a little more luck and a couple less bad mistakes from the man in the middle we would now in November be clear at the top..let’s enjoy!

Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper has made three changes for tonight’s Championship game at Middlesbrough (7pm).

Ben Cabango, Ryan Manning and Kasey Palmer all start as Kyle Naughton, Jake Bidwell and Matt Grimes drop to the bench following Sunday’s win at Nottingham Forest.

Freddie Woodman starts in goal, with Cabango joining Ryan Bennett and Marc Guehi in the Swansea defence.

Connor Roberts and Manning are the wing-backs, while Jay Fulton and Korey Smith are paired together in midfield.

Palmer is handed the number 10 role, while Andre Ayew skippers the side and partners Jamal Lowe in attack.

Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Ben Cabango, Ryan Bennett, Marc Guehi; Connor Roberts, Korey Smith, Jay Fulton, Ryan Manning; Kasey Palmer; Andre Ayew (captain), Jamal Lowe.

Substitutes: Steven Benda, Kyle Naughton, Jake Bidwell, Matt Grimes, Yan Dhanda, Wayne Routledge, Jordon Garrick, Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Cullen.

This month will be a big challenge where we will need the strength in depth in the squad. I see plenty of rotation of players, to keep fatigue down. Nice to see we have the strength in depth, we’ve not had this for a long time.
