It needs to be, reach one goal and move on to the next. Constant improvement each time a land mark is reached. It will take time, some mangers and staff will take us up a level, but once it can be seen that they have reached their limits, they need to be binned without any emotion. Far, far too many times have we reached a pinnacle and said 'give them time, give them a pre season' I say No. Once it can be seen they have no more to give they need to go.. There should be no room for sentiment. Just look where its taken us to.
Those circumstances neatly sum up the potential difficulty with having a DOF. They often hang around long after they are obviously useless, watch managers come and go, and are not constantly judged by results. It's the job to be in I'd say. Let's hope that coming up we have some competent people making good decisions . Bad decisions made by incompetent people is the reason we are in our current sad state. It needs to stop before we can start.
Poyet took over from Di Canio didn't he? So he'll have inherited all the misfits that DOF (De Fanti?) bought i.e. Roberge, Cabral, Diakite, Moberg-Karlsson etc. So a total rebuild job and even then not getting the players he wanted from the new DoF (Congerton). So in effect got dealt two **** hands.
I’m sure I read Paolo didn’t get one of the 14 names he put forward. I bet he thought right this is a canny way to start.
That's the thing. The whole not comfortable on the ball crack is a bit of a myth imo. The Brighton team he took over were far worse than us, they were heading for relegation with a team that couldn't do anything let alone pass to a teammate. He basically took that set of players and won the league, playing some lovely football. In fact when he took over us we had a few that weren't deemed particularly good passers of the ball, Cattermole etc, and got them comfortable in possession.
I think that was more likely just the confirmation that everything was in place tbh. Rodwell gave him 15 minutes to pack his coaching manuals, tactic board and books on motivation ... ... he had it all in his boot in 5
I'm not ITK but no someone who could well be and they have said they are choosing between Poyet and Cowley but one of them is refusing to work with a DOF
Takeover and new manager expected later this week. Other key appointments expected late December / early January. Satori / Dreyfus making the calls not Donald or Methven. KTF
