Little intensity pace and a touch like a trampoline. Not for the first time. An easy ride for the opposition.
Fammy - love him to bits, but he has no first touch at all. He’s a better central defender than a striker, but if he DOES have to play up front then he’s the big lump you bring on for the last 10 minutes when everything else has failed and you need to play ‘route 1’ hoofball.
His play has complemented which players games in his time at Ashton Gate? He is hard to play with but too frequently not that hard (his touch!!) to play against. 10 + goals a season come with a heavy cost in tactical flexibility.
Spot on!! I’ve been saying it for years, and all I keep getting is”he was out top scorer last season”....
I said it first Fammy can't be a worse defender than Moore - what about, doing his impersonation of Bobby Moore, and his 2 footed jump/lunge today. I was relieved at the time it was a yellow but if he'd got a red at least he'd be sat in the stand for a few weeks.
I said to my son at the time it was a red. Lucky for him the ref must have acknowledged that he got the ball and didn’t go OVER the ball. Studs up and 2 footed is a red I thought.
I think the ref was very fair AND HAD GOOD EYES! TM got the ball, there player was not touched he jumped at the right moment, a good interpretation of the situation? Again hindsight can work both ways intent on causing injury or getting the ball! On second or third viewings … ref had just one , it looks like TM is intent on sliding in with a vengeance! [ from 5 -6 m out ].. but he was "focus'd ball .. all be it studs up scenario. His luck was a ref who was on the ball !
I don’t think Famara is exceptional at defending either. Martin has shared the zonal role at corners from the reduced amount of City I see and does similar. Famara’s defending from the front is poor. Not mobile and energetic enough. Once again the tactical flexibility of the team suffers.
