Have to say, that was bloody dreadful......Like Supcon says, we deserved everything we got from that...
Was it Rowe, that should have shot but tried to walk it in, leading to them scoring.
Pretty much all over the place at the back, creation in midfield non existent and powder puff up front..Diedhiou was dreadful.
The only light for me is Semenyo

Bad day at the office, we are used to that in a previous existance, hope for covid 19 and our injury list problems to reduce, get up, dust ourselves down and get ready for an improvement in the next game.

We are only feeling the injuries in terms of starting 11 at the heart of the defence, who until the formation change were solid. The task for DH is midfield, it’s powderpuff with Pato and CoD, Nagy ran himself I tot he ground covering them today, more Pato than CoD to be fair

I've said forever Holden was handed a poor squad.
Allowed a free transfer from Derby, a joke WBA 35year old, a crock from Wigan and 2 loans, now injured, from Fulham.
However we're at the right end of the table, and with the cards he's been dealt with he's been doing a great job so far.
As for today Taylor Moore carried on as he has all season, he's never a Championship defender. He was pathetic against Norwich and only back in because of our injuries. I don't think we'll see him start again when we get defenders back.
Still can't see what most see in DaSilva. Pretty on the ball but ordinary in the tackle, positioning is suspect, and just doesn't see runners.
Fammy, poor sod can't trap cement, utterly useless holding the ball up.
Semenyo should play wide, not the same payer centrally.

Since Norwich our game plan has been to defend our half and play on the break. If it fails like today he goes with 4-3-3 and we look better but with Moore and without Kalas we're screwed.
With limited resources I really can't see how we can set up any differently until Kalas, Baker, Mawson, Williams and Walsh get fit.

You keep on regarding limited resources, sorry but that's just an excuse. Most clubs are in the same boat and mainly have to coach what they are dealt with.
I'm just not liking our negative approach to games, quite often either trying to walk the ball in or revert to passing sideways or backwards. Of the games I've seen, we are so much better when pressing, putting our opponents under pressure, just not often enough and allow them to get a grip of games......
We've got fairly lucky with other results today as we've done over the past few weeks..
Dean needs to enforce some grit into the side IMO..............all too powder puff for my liking.

    Like Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth.
The rest you can throw a blanket over.
So far with Covid and injuries I'm not certain how City fans can complain of where we are, 5th.

    Unless some are still hurting.

    Norwich-Bournemouth-Watford-Reading.

    Different gravy.

Nice to get the 5/6th spots and get a chance in the lottery.

I think because of Covid we are managing 5th...no better chance to achieve the ultimate goal.....for me, there's been no outstanding teams....Even Norwich had a wobble today (loads of injuries) along with Bournemouth...
Nah not hurting, just a touch of same old same old IMO..

Credit to Reading - they contained us very well. They snuffed out Semenyo when he was playing on the right. They did their homework well and hit us on the break time after time - something that WE normally do well.
Bentley was brilliant again and I don’t blame him for their goals.
No complaints about losing - Reading deserved their 3 points. I suppose a football‘Puritan’ would say that 2-0 would have been ‘fairer’ as their first goal came from a freak deflection and ours was offside, but it doesn’t matter.
    Moving on..........

Not an excuse at all, it's a fact. Mawson, Baker, Ssesignon, Weiman are long term.
    Bakinson and others less so.
We've been hit hard with Covid, even the training ground's been shut.

Under the prevailing circumstances it's churlish to bemoan 5th place.

    Have you been drinking?

We TRIED to press Norwich, what happened?
Because of our resources Holden tried the age old, defend our half and play on the break.
Result 3 games Huddersfield, Cardiff and Derby 9 points. Yes we had our fair share of luck.

Of course, I'm like any other fan and would like to see us play an expansive game but unlike you I see the restraints of injury and Covid that Holden has had to work with.

What happened on the touchline? It seemed to get very heated at 1-0?
No, I was pretty calm. There were four of their staff trying to get Taylor Moore sent off. I asked for some calmness and their manager told me to do something to myself which I won’t repeat, which was unacceptable

    We heard what he said…
Exactly so I don’t need to repeat that. The fourth official heard and that was why he was rightly…well, I don’t know what a caution does to a manager, to be honest, but that’s the rules.

He’s just said that he apologises for his behaviour. Do you accept that?
I don’t hold grudges with anybody. It’s easy when you’ve won a game to apologise. It’s the heat of the moment, it happens.

I presume you’ve been called worse things down the years!
It doesn’t interest me to be honest.

The more I hear about Deano I realise what an adult, mature, sensible bloke we've got in charge, a good, honest approach and view on life.

    Shame about the result.

Have you been drinking? Might have been better to watch :emoticon-0103-cool:

You wouldn't be saying all this had LJ been in charge................................................fact.
Covid & injuries are an excuse, same for all clubs......Nice try though RP. <laugh>
Think Dean has done a fairly decent job...and I like him......but we are only 14 games in......I'm just saying what I've seen..(I watched about half) ..IMO most of it has been quite negative....

We were lucky to not get embarrassed today and that was because Dan Bentley was the only player worthy of wearing the shirt. He saved 3 or 4 shots that kept us in the game but the rest just basically gave up and how our 13 million package from France are still at Ashton Gate boggles the mind. We offered no threat going forward and if you couple that with the possibility of 2 players taking an early bath it highlights even further how light and inefficient we are right across the pitch. The 1st goal was unlucky for Zak but the writing was already on the wall and despite an equalizer we showed out true colours by giving away the ball on a lousy pass out of defence, which coupled with a non-existing tackle attempt by Massengo followed by even poorer defending gave Reading the win they deserved.

If this is the best effort we can get from this squad then I think we can all put our thoughts of success on the back burner and if you look at our shots/game ratio then you can see where we fall flat on our face. Looking at the table may give us some consolation but if performances like today's continue I fear that a tumble downwards could be on the cards. Our record against the teams touted to be in the mix at the end of the season is very poor and unless we can show those contenders that we are capable of a challenge then we are just spinning our wheels in the mire. Today we showed our weaknesses to all and sundry and it wasn't a pretty sight.

Hang on just a cotton picking minute here because the previous post under my name was not by my pen. Either my memory has totally gone or someone else wrote that piece under my name and although it is very close to my thoughts it did not come from my hand - honest ref! Or has my memory gone.:emoticon-0105-wink:

    DH interview
    ……..
“We’ve conceded a goal in the first half, we’ve let Ejaria cut infield which isn’t what you want to be doing, but it was a deflection. We’ve then got back in the game out of nothing and the mentality has to be if we can get another goal and win it then great, but we make sure we don’t lose it. ……

NEEDS TO CONCENTRATE MORE does DH goal was in 9th minute of SECOND half!... hope fully not early signs of having headed the ball to much!!!!! lol

A positive of the afternoon in Berkshire was a league debut for young Opi Edwards, who came off the bench late on to make only his second City appearance since the 2017/18 campaign.
Holden explained: “I thought late in the game we could throw him on as an attacking full-back and see if he can get that opportunity for a one-on-one. It’s always great for youngsters to make their debut but what you want is for it to be on a winning afternoon.
“It’s a disappointing afternoon, Opi will enjoy that personally but from our point of view as a team it’s disappointing, we weren’t at the level and we have to move on quickly.”
City now turn their attentions and preparation to Tuesday night’s trip to the capital, where Holden wants a reaction from the squad.

He said: “We’ve got another game in 36 hours and we have to get ready for that. What I think we’ve done this season is not get too high when we win and don’t panic when we lose games.
“I’m gutted inside of course but we’ve got a huge game Tuesday and you can’t feel sorry for yourself; you can’t do it because you then go into these runs. We’ve got to make sure on Tuesday we are firing on all cylinders and we are ready to get into another game to try and get a win.”
QPR v City will be streamed exclusively live on Robins TV, with passes now available to supporters.

maybe it is bad inaccurate reporting by the reporter .. its 72 hours for next game [ ish from interview ]

In the circumstances we’re doing well to be where we are. Yesterday was poor but as others have said, credit to Reading they dealt with our threats, nullified us and deserved their win as they were the better team on the day.
The question now is with the next game coming so soon and with little time to recover can we regroup and get a win.
