Both City and the Royals enjoyed perfect starts in the run up the first international break of the season, with Reading flying under new manager Veljko Paunović, who wouldn’t lose a league game until Halloween. That was a run of eight games unbeaten (seven wins, one draw) to propel them to the top of the Championship. However, Saturday’s opponents are without a win in their last five games, which included a stretch of four defeats in a row. Danger-man Luas João did grab his eighth league goal of the season (he is the Championship's third top goalscorer) to help Reading earn a point last time out against Millwall to stop that losing run. Still, Reading entered the weekend sixth, four points behind leaders Norwich and one behind City – thanks to their strong start. The question on people’s lips now is have Paunović’s side run out of gas too early? That’s the worry many fans will be pondering after conceding 14 goals in their last 5 games. They had conceded just three goals in their first eight matches prior. There are certainly similarities after good starts and both clubs have suffered dips, yet form-wise the teams are very different. Both still sit in similar positions in the table, but after City recorded 1-0 wins home and away over Reading last season, a similar result this time would be welcomed. Difficult to see how Fammy justifies retaining his place based on the last game.... I would prefer Massengo to CoD, at least he puts himself about and is busy in midfield, they both give the ball away, but HNM at least he is in and around the opposition midfielders, something we missed against Watford.
After everyone takes a knee in support of Black Lives Matter, the home side get this game started. will they start the second half 1 minute clap in appreciation of those NHS workers [ and other medics around the world ] who have given their lives and continue to put their lives on the line!
This is the fourth game I have now seen in the DH era, and I will be honest, I don’t like his ‘brand’ of football. Not sure why we bother with a midfield as we just hoof the ball over at every opportunity, we may as well play 5 forwards and 5 defenders. Paterson needs to play up top and allow someone else to add more steel in midfield, as he doesn’t offer anything physically when we are being bossed in midfield. We are doing ok in terms of results, but for me, the performances are a long way short of a side that will challenge for the top 6, and god forbid promotion. We miss Eliasson’s creativity, as Pato and CoD don’t provide it.... I think Vyner, Moore and Rowe are doing a great job defensively though.
Can’t say I enjoy watching this style of football, no forward movement, keep giving the simple passes away, only happy playing between our back four and midfield, when we get a chance to get the ball into the opposing penalty area we don’t take it,
Diedhiou doesn’t have the skill for this style. I don’t know why he starts tbh. Semenyo needs to switch to the left like he was vs Watford. 0 shots on target and only 0-0 because of a great save by Bentley again. Let’s see Martin for Fammy now.
I couldn’t agree more, Fammy has never been good enough to win the ball up on his own and play people in. For his size and stature, he’s constantly out-muscled which is a mystery. That said if we had VAR he would have won a penalty right on HT.
awaiting routine covid test cant believe we only have 1 shot on goal … they have 13 forget that gone mad now gone 1-1 then 2-1 … .. I will go back to waiting
Well, we got exactly what we deserved, nothing!! DH has to find a way to have an offensive influence in games, as we haven’t really had this all season. Poor defensively for their 2nd&3rd goals. Paterson has been MIA all game, again.... The midfield needs work, to be fair to CoD he had more influence once we went 4-3-3
